Probably find the torque converter driving the four wheel drive has seized and as the tyres are not exactly the same diameter, they are wearing badly.

Only the passenger side wheels will turn in four wheel drive high or low. Why?

you have whats called open differintials. this makes cornering easier and reduces tire wear. if you truely want all four wheels to turn you need to have lockers installed. these can be found in most 4x4 mags, but are not really easy to put in

Bad news... It sounds like you have a broken/stripped axle. I would start at the wheel and start disassembling from the outside in. It may just be a stripped spline in the spindle.
