Normaly that would mean that your alternator is bad, have it checked out and see if its working properly

Voltage draw down found!
1) repaced bad battery
2) rechecked voltage draw still showing 12 volt drain with all under hood fuses, relays, and interior fuses and relays pulled.
3) Computer was the 12 Volt drain, & had to reprogram itself.
4) gave the new battery a good long charge, reinstalled the battery into the vehicle.
5) Hooked the battery up, pulled the keys out of the ignition, close and lock all doors with auto door lock. Waited minimum of 20 min so the computer would go back into the sleep mode.
6) after 20 minute wait, rechecked the voltage draw by removing the neg battery cable from the battery, hooking volt meter + lead to battery cable end, and neg lead to battery neg post, nothing showing or zero reading.
7) Hooked the neg cable up to battery, started the truck and let the engine idle to normal run temp, then fast idled 1200-1300 rpms for 2 minutes, then drove the vehicle for 5+ miles and alternating speeds. All appears back to normal now. Alt showing 14.2 to 14.4 volts, and no other problems.
After all of the afore mentioned, my problems began with a bad battery cell, thus caused my computer to have the memory reset.Until the computer was reset, I had a 12v continious draw down! I got this info from a repair manual, that I purchase sometime ago. Thanks for your alls help........EJB

84 camaro good battery and alt so the part store says but after one start battery is dead have all new wires ?

Battery is only used to start engine.
after charging battery, start car. remove Negative cable, if car dies, wiring to alternator is faulty.

if continues to run, shut off car and all accessories. install ammeter between Neg. cable and battery, if it shows a draw, pull fuses one by one to find circuit with draw while car is off.

Dilemma, Battery died in my 1998 s70 volvo, charged the battery, then disconnected the neg. cable while car was running and engine died. Is this a bad alternator?

Scan it from the OBDII System to find out for sure or remove the Alternator and have it tested at your local Auto Parts Store.

I own a 2004 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2L V6 2WD. On saturday it died on me. at first i thought it might be the fuel pump because the engine turned over but wouldn't engage. Gas level was good as was the battery. ...

my problem was electrical, removing the batt (neg. terminal) for a few seconds resets the Engine Control Module (ECM) which operates the full pump relay, there should be a fuse in the relay box in under the hood labeled ECM or ECU. Pulling that fuse for 10 secs. or so also resets the ECM, try this and if it immediately works I suggest to drive it locally until it will not start again and repeat the removal of the ECM fuse. If this work out I suggest that you ECM is receiving a sensor signal to shut down the pump relay so I've been told, is the check engine lite on

Same problem motor shutting off when turning the AC at a low idle

I don't tjink your a/c is directly killing the engine. The electrical load it demands may be the issue. Hve your battery checked and your alternater outout. The alt. is supposed to ofset the loads imposed on the battery so as not to ppermit the battery to drop below what is needed to satisfy other accessories which are on orrunning. The charging voltage output of the alt is 13.6 - 14.2v @ 13,6v the alt is charging near its capacity. and 14.2 it is backing off. The lower the voltage the higher the amps. Constantly running @ or below 13.6 will shorten the lufe of the alt due to hear builup damage. Have your battery load tested w/engine off. Then ck the alternater output engine running @ 800 rpms. Alternaters, unlike the old generators, charge from the minute it starts turning, where a generatoter has to have speed to generate anything. Watch what the alternator does when you turn the a/c on and off. or simply watch the battery readinsgs when you turn each accessory on. like the headlights... Good Luck

I need to replace my alternator

You need to first take off youre serptine belt. Inspect that and generally its a good idea to replace. Next there is a electrical connection on the alternator. DISCONNECT the battery FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then disconnect the connection on the alternator, there are a couple of bolts that attach the alternator to the engine. and then simply bolt on the new one, re-attach the electrical connection and then re-install the (new) belt.
