What's your most likely dealing with is either a blown fuse on your brake light circuitor turn signal circuit I think you're fine that your brake lights probably not eliminating as wellor worst case scenario you're probably doing with a broken wire or a bad ground on the circuitmost likely not going to be a flash for failure as it is just a switch which it's very seldom known to go out if you if you have a blown flasher then you have more serious problems

All you can do-- is check all the vehicle fuses

No reason for a flasher to fail

If one is blown-- it won't be a fix for your problem

Installing parts-- is not how you make a repair

You need to understand the circuit on a print,
then go after a likely culprit

SOURCE: 2001 intrepid signals and flashers not working

I have the same problem right now. When it is 70+ degrees outside my car's windows will not roll down, the AC stops working, and the turn signals will not work. I've been digging into it and it is more than likely a relay.

I'm looking for a service manual with electronic troubleshooting manual online. If you search for it you can find it in a .pdf form. By using the ETM and a multimeter (cheap to buy at SEARS) then you should be able to get your problem out of the way.

Turn signal clicker comes on randomly but doesn't affect lights

No the dash is the hazard light switch, it's also the turn signal flasher, dealer part only replace, replacing it will fix your problem. Feel the switch when you hear the clicking.

Turn signals won't come on inside or outside of car but hazard lights come on inside and outside of car

Check turn signal fuse, if fuse is good, check turn signal flasher, this is identical to hazard flasher, I believe on the 1997 it is located under the dash near the center console. The turn signal and hazard flashers are the same part number so try switching places with them and see if the turn signals work. If turn signals work after switching them you need a flasher.

believe it or not, a 4 way flasher can cause this even if it itself is working properly, otherwise flasher, bulbs, or switch is bad .
