I need to know where the timing marks are on the cam sprokets on the heads the passenger side has a mark but the drivers side has a arrow and a painted mark. My question is what mark do I go by?

The arrow should be lined up with mark on the timing belt cover. make shur you turn the motor around few revolutions slowly tell the marks line back up.

Timing marks on mitsubishi galant

All the timing marks are clearly marked on the motor arrows/triangles. the pulleys are clearly marked with dots/small drill holes and some times they have factory paint marks.

How do i set timing on 2000 dodge intrepid, i had to put water pump on now i need the timing set,

i number 1piston which is the front one on the passenger side has to be all the way up and then 60 degrees past that, there is a mark on the crank that matches up with an arrow on the oil pump housing, the driver side cam sprocket has an arrow on it, and the passenger side cam sprocket has a hole in it which is its timing mark, on the chain there are 4 gold link, a single gold link goes on the crank timing mark, a single gold link goes on the passenger cam sprocket timing mark, and the double gold links match up with the driver side cam sprocket timing mark

Replaced timing belt on 1997 mercury villager. it wont start. where are the timing marks located?

The timing marks are generally tiny arrow located on the gears which hold the timing belt. Make sure the arrows are pointing up and you should be close enough to get the vehicle started and to a garage for minor adjusting with a timing light. Unless of course you have one of those timing lights.

I need the timing marks

you will find on the crankshaft and cam gear a small white arrow. just above the crankshaft will be another arrow stamped on engine block. and just above the cam gear you will see another arrow stamped on the head. both marks will be faceing you when you look at the front of the gears.

Timing belt

There definitely is a mark. I'm tearing down a 99 Beetle now. The mark is on the center of one of the teeth and runs the length of the tooth.

You'll need to use a breaker bar and 18mm socket to rotate the camshaft. Use a pressure gauge to determine top dead center then nudge the gear until the mark aligns with the arrow on the timing belt cover behind the gear (the plastic one closest to the manifold). The alignment arrow is right around the 11 o clock position when facing the cam gear.

There are two. One is at the very center top of the head. It is a little arrow. The other is to the right hand side. Also a little arrow type mark. The Crankshaft mark is on the gear and another arrow mark on the engine.
