A car starter pulls 150 to 200 amps, the lights maybe 20 or 30 and will work at most voltages until its really dead, a starter will only click away on a dead battery get it jumped.

Car problems

Well I'm going to list what I think it could be and what I would start with first. 1.listen to your fuel pump. Do this by having someone listen to your gas hose while car is turned from the off position to the "run" position without starting the car. Listen for duration and flow. Ask me if you have questions. 2.check your Thottle position

My Oldsmobile aurora won't start. Battery still

The lights coming on are standard start-up checks.. The most likely issue is corrosion on the battery terminals. Pull them off give them a good clean up and try then. This is the most likely issue failing this it is probably the solenoid on your starter motor.

Won't start, lights work and radio also but will not turn over

If lights work, radio but not turn over. First of listen to see if it clicks when turning key, if that happens most likely it is the solenoid on the starter not triggering, if you hear nothing when turning the key, then the cable coming from the battery that goes down to the starter is loose, bad connection. Make sure that the cable from battery is tight, and clean. If Like I said you hear a click when trying to start car, then it is starter/solenoid issue. I hope this helps, if it does please rate my free advice accordingly> Thanks Mike. and check out my personal expert site....

2002 ford taurus won't start - brand new battery and complete tune up still won't start

Sounds like your not getting any fuel..Listen for the fuel pump,by removing gas cap and put your ear up to it..cycle the key without starting it and listen for the pump..sometimes you can beat on the bottom of the tank and it will jarr the pump and it will start running again..Not a fix but a conformation

Car will start but won't stay running

Is the Check Engine Light on/ If yes, go to AUtozne & get codes read and report them here.

Also, try cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle bdy with spray carb cleaner.

Check for 40 psi of fuel pump pressure. Can you hear pump hum for 5 seconds when key is turned to ON? Listen at tank at rea of car, pump is in the tank.

Hi Have a Maxima Nissan 1997, car wont start did a ObdII test.

An OBD II test won't tell you if the fuel pump is bad or something like that.

First determine if the problem is spark or fuel, by using an inductive timing light of some spray starting fluid.
Listen for the fuel pump.

Just bought a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire from a private owner. Had no problems up until today. Had a bad thunderstorm today and happened to be parked in the vehicle listening to music on the radio. Suddenly the...

Check the connections at the battery, clean them where they shine, electrolite will form when you just have the radio on,and then there is no connection,or not enough for the starter to start the vehicle, corrosion will act as an insulator, and the starter needs more amps, and volts to start than lights ,or radio, check the battery also.
