Question about 2000 Ford Crown Victoria
Yes you will have to raise the engine, also, and remove some other items that can be damaged when lifting. An engine hoist will be needed for this job. This text was taken from a 2000 crown vic workshop manual.
see pic for torque sequence. i could not locate a torque spec, so you will have to hand feel them. if it is a rubberized gasket do not over tighten as it will crush the gasket.
Hope this helps!

Yeah Rick, The previous answer is a complete explain and the best to use. Since the pan and gasket need removed from the front, be sure that the crankshaft throws are up out of the way on the front by putting the front 2 pistons at top dead center before starting this procedure and you're clear. Best of luck my friend.

First make an appointment for a front end alignment which will be required after replacing the ball joint. Securely support the vehicle under the lower control arm at the outer end, the end nearest the tire. The upper ball joint is attached to the upper control arm with 2 large nuts. Under the nuts are cams with hex heads for adjusting caster and camber. Mark the position of these cams in a way that will allow you to reinstall them somewhere near the same position. Next remove the outer end of the joint from the steering knuckle an then remove the 2 nuts and both cams from the control arm end. Reinstall and get that alignment asap !
