Do you have fuel and spark when car dies? sounds like you have a antitheft issue shutting down your fuel system.

Was the fuel filter changed at the time the fuel pump was replaced. It is located up under the rear axle area about half the size of a pop can.

Here's the thing.... There's absolutely no codes because the engine light isn't on... Reading some other comments in relation to mine issue some say Computer maybe?
I'm just not sure if the computer being cooked would make my car turn off or just randomly die... :/

Have you ever changed the fuel filter? If it's not that, and it's not a vacuum leak, it is probably your idle air control valve.

SOURCE: 1997 Neon dies, starts after electric fuel pump relay swapped

Hello, I would assume this is your fuel pump inside your tank. I would first however do some basics like a general tuneup. For starters I would replace your spark plugs and wires, rotary cap and button and check your fuses. Run some injector cleaner through your system. You know quick simple cheap things before you get to the fuel pump inside the gas tank which can be kinda expensive. The warm up then dies can be caused by, "blownout or fouled," spark plugs. I hope this gives you a general direction in which to go. A sidenote is that coil packs do not normally run an igntion code and I for one do not like them becuase they are expensive.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 Mercedes CRD will not start

does it start and run for 3 seconds on test fuel

yes, engine ok, EFI bad.

no, bad engine, engine must be good to run.

EFI cant run bad engines..

so compression at spec......????

why beat the EFI to death,

all engines run on test fuel.

with gas engines, takes spark and good engine

on diesel, takes only good engine. simple huh (and some air)

for test fuel try diesel in a spray bottle into the injection port.

google this

or use youtube on test fuel on any diesel car. or truck

this is called basics....... basic basics.

1: good engine, and pumps air ok. (must breath)

2: good fuel.

3: test fuel works now. if not check above.

Ran out of gas, car wouldn't crank replaced fuel pump, fuel relay, and in line fuel filter and still won't crank on 2002 chevy avalanche

still won't crank ? how's your battery ? starter ? starter solonoid ? if your engine does'nt crank , its dead ! would'nt you check the battery first ? then move on with checking the starter circuit ? seems like your putting the cart before the horse ! first of all, when you run out of gas, you need to replace the FUEL FILTER, your engine just sucked the dirt, garbage, etc., out of the tank. there's plenty of sediment in the tank, don't know how it gets there, but, you'd be surprized ! talking threw experience !!! I operate heavy equipment, its a cardinal sin to run out of fuel !!! you say you replaced the inline filter, which one, up by the engine or the main filter, under vehicle along frame ? are we talking about the same animal, PLEASE CLARIFY !

2000 mercury grand marquis 4.6 Intermittent problem. 35,000. miles. Problem engine died several times wile driving. Also after car is parked from a drive will not start. Found that the fuel pump is not...

I'd have to test when problem is ongoing. When you first turn on key, no crank, you should hear the pump run for a few seconds then stop. For initial prime, the computer doesn't need rpm signal. Engine cranking, the computer needs to see rpm signal or it won't ground the fuel pump relay. W/o rpm signal, no spark at the plugs and no fuel injector pulse. I know your talking about fuel, but, when problem is ongoing, check spark and fuel injector pulse, engine cranking.
Intermittent problems are a pain, have to test when problem is ongoing.

My 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT stick shift vehicle keeps dying. It will shake when the gauge gets to the 1 RPM spot and continue shaking for a little bit and then just die. I have replaced the oil but perhaps...

Wrong, it couldn't be the battery because the battery is basically used to keep track of the time and make sure your car starts, after it does the battery basically charges and runs like the radio etc. The fuel filter would be more likely, but my money's on the fuel pump itself. You might also have an engine coil firing out of order, which would cause the shaking and an occasional **** from the car.

-Get a tune up.
-Get a machine hooked up to your car by a mechanic (full systems check)
-Check the transmission fluid.
-Tell the mechanic that it's probably the fuel pump. The fuel pump starts going bad, and then your gas gauge starts fluctuating, and your engine starts struggling to get to higher RPM's because it can't **** fuel out of your tank fast enough.

All in all to get this baby back on the road at full force could run you 200 to around 500 dollars. Then depending on the mechanic the labor is more.

Tune up (100 bucks) transmission fluid change(20-50 bucks) Full systems check (50-80 bucks) fuel pump(150 bucks) then the labor for everything would be anywhere between 150-300.

Hope it helps.

Check the fuel pressure.
If no pressure, then check for power at the pump when cranking. If not, it is the fuel pump relay. You an pull it and put a jumper across the secondary leads to get it to run.

Check is current is flowing in the cables to each plug(4)! Remove any of these cables and hold it near any metal(engine block) and have someone crank it. If sparks are not coming out of the cable, then the induction coil needs to be replaced, Follow it up by checking the distributor, if present(doubt), and check the contact points for deposition of carbon...........sodeep

1992 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3l dies on highway.

Its normal for the pump to run for three seconds then shut off if the car engine is off. . This indicates that the fuel pump turned on and the pressure did reach specifications. If the pump did not reach pressure the pump would continue to run, You need to check for proper pressure with a gauge. If tthe pressure is ok then you have another issue like an ignition module or crank sensor if applicable. You may have to drive the car with the fuel gauge hooked up to see if you still have pressure when it dies.. I know you said you replaced the pump already but do you have the same issues as before you replaced it. This would indicate which direction you need to go now. If the same then its prabably not the pump.
