SOURCE: 2001 Avalon was dead (battery). Won't start or jump

Assuming the motor is not frozen, you are probably not getting 12 V *at the starter motor* while cranking.
Also, try charging the battery; a dead battery may draw so much power from the jump that there still is not enough left for the starter - specially if you are using marshmallow $5.00 jumper cables.
Check it out and correct the problem (Bad ground?).
If this is a manual transmission, you can check tha the motor is not frozen by putting it in 3rd gera and rocking it to see if the motor turns. Remember to put it back in neutral befor you play some more with the starter motor

SOURCE: My 2001 Kia Sephia suddenly won't start.

even if your starter is out it would still click when you tried starting the car. so try replacing your battery first thats the most common problem for random starting. also look under the car you may need to jack it up. look under the intake manifold that is where the starter is check to see that everything is hooked correctly and that all the bolts are tightend securley and not loose on one side.

I drove to work fine got back in 4 hours later car won't start battery dead. then got a jump came home turn car off now car wont start.

If you just hear a click, try this:
This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

I have a 2001 saturn sc1...i was driving stopped filled gas. and when i went to start again, i got a clicking noise...i tried getting a boost...but battery is fine...radio works everything is good...i...

Your radio and most of your accessories will still work with a low charged battery. The clicking sound you are experiencing is most likely from a low charged battery not giving enough amperage to the starter. Were you able to start the car after getting a boost? If so, then it is your battery. Does your car cut out while driving? If so, then it is your alternator (device that charges your battery while the car is running). It is either the battery or alternator.
