50 psi is ample to start an engine. You will need spark and compression as well . Check immobiliser operation. Check that the cam shaft is turning (timing belt) Check for spark at a plug HT lead

My 320d bmw,2000 model suddenly cuts off whilst dtiving, what could be the problem

Sounds like you might have a bad fuel pump. You need to hook a fuel pressure gage up the the fuel rail located near the injectors to see if you are getting proper pressure. You should be getting somewhere close to 50psi. If you are not getting 50psi, I would recommend changing your fuel pump. It is common for fuel pumps to fail on your model of car

My x5 2009 bmw wont start .starts with easy spray. wont keep do you check fuel pump.

You need to attach a fuel pressure diagnostic tool to the fuel rail to see if you are getting 50psi. If you are not getting 50psi it is highly likely you need a new fuel pump.

You can rent those tools from AutoZone

2001 Silverado 1500 5.3 won't start. replaced fuel regulator, pump, crank sensor. I have spark, engine fires once, then nothing... Fuel pressure shows 50psi with key on...

Does it try to start by using starting fluid in the intake ?
I'm fairly sure fuel pressure should be 55-65 psi so 50 may be low.
Do you loose spark as the engine is cranking ?
Any trouble codes stored in the computer ?

Got a 1999 gmc jimmy. Wether it is cold outside or warm my truck has difficulty starting when the truck is cold. Got new plugs wires and distributor. Fuel pump is working fine. Once it is running there is...

Common problem with these is a fuel drainback. Use a fuel pump pressure tester, start the engine, If it's multi-port fuel injection the psi should be 50psi+. If 50psi, turn off engine and notice psi drop. If fuel pressure drops off to 10 or 5 psi, try to start engine and watch for a jump in fuel pump pressure. If pressure jumps to 50psi and the engine won't start, then I would suspect a good working fuel pump, if not a jump to 50 psi, I would say bad fuel pump. Good luck, Gary

1998 Jeep cherokee just shuddered and died when i was backing out. Possible crankshaft positioning sensor or fuel pump?? For the past week it would give me troubles starting it. It would shudder and turn...

you need to check to things out,
first is fuel pressure at thr fuel rail reed valve, you need at least 50psi for the injectors.
second have someone check the engine temp switch,to see what temp it is telling the computer your engine is.
if it tells the computer your engine temp is 65 degrees, the computer will not push as much fuel to thru injectors, when your engine is cold the computer needs to know how rich to make it for cold starts

Car won't fire

if you have checked for spark at the spark plug end of the wire and it was not an sporadic, then you need to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail reed valve,it should be at least 50psi ti start an engine thru the injectors

DoI have a fuel or sensor problem?

Do a fuel pressure check, not sure what engine you have but a 4.3 liter needs at least 40-50psi to run normal.
