Does Changing a P1151 and P0175 on a ford Wind star solve the problems associated with it?


P1151 is indicating an problem with the upstream O2 Sensor on Bank 2. Bank 2 is the even cylinders side O2 sensor. The P0175 code indicates a rich condition in Bank 2 exhaust. This indication, if by itself, would indicate a faulty MAF Sensor or a vacuum leak, but since you already have the P1151, change the Bank 2 O2 sensor first and most likely both codes will clear.

batteries will get hot when working as there is current flow across the plates . For batteries to get noticeable hot then there is a current draw that exceeds the capacity of the battery . This indicates a problem electric motor in the system (Worn bushes/bearings -armature poling out --shorting windings or armature) it may also indicate shorting between batteries from a battery that has collapsing cells . Have each battery inderpendently load tested

Winding more than 2 1/2 turns will be overwinding and might break the part. make sure you follow those instructions. wind anticlock wise, no more than 2 and half turns. Good luck

Piston hitting valve


The procedure is ti fit the timing belt properly. Did you start the process with the engine at TopDeadCenter on the compression stroke of number 1 cylinder? Something is terribly wrong, congratulations on testing the configuration by hand. I've seen what damage has been done by people that just hooked up the battery and wind it over. They had a smashing good time.

Pull all your spark plugs, put your finger over the number 1 spark plug hole and wind the engine over by until you find the compression stroke on number 1 cylinder. Keep turning slowly until you bring you crank timing mark to the timing indicator. You should be at TDC compression number 1 cylinder, you can check with a screw driver or piece of wire that the piston is at the top. Make sure you are winding the engine in its working direction. Now look at your camshaft timing marks and indicators, they should all line up. If the marks are out of line, correct them, do not move the crank.

Once you have everything lined up again and tensioned correctly. Turn over the engine by hand 2 FULL revolutions. Should be all good then.

It sounds like one winding in the alternator is not working, so at low idle it is not providing a smooth full charge to the battery and the gauge is indicating this. Repair or replace alternator.

With my pump failure, I read the exact same 6.5 v at the inertia switch in my trunk with the key in the "on" position and engine not running or cranking. When cranking, the voltage to the pump jumped to +12V and if the engine did run, the voltage should stay at +12V.

The Ford manual states +12v should be at the motor for some number of seconds in the key "on" position then drop off if the engine is not cranking or does not start. In my pump failure case, I never saw 12V at the inertia switch in just the key "on" position, only +6.5V as the +12v fuel relay under the hood never engaged and/or stayed latched on.

In my situation, I measured an open circuit at the pump motor winding and suspect the +6.5V I was reading came from the Powertrain Control Module. I am also guessing if my pump winding was not open, the +6v voltage would have been +12v for a number of seconds for fuel priming as the fuel pump relay is temporarily energized, then drop to zero (relay off) if the engine does not continue to crank or run.

With my pump motor winding open, the Power Control Module may not have been loaded properly to function (reading +6.5 floating volts instead) in the key "on" position and therefore never climbed to the full +12V. There obviously was no fuel pressure at my schrader valve on the fuel rail when cranking which indicated an open wiring circuit (splice, ground or connector) or open pump winding. The 12v I was reading when cranking at least indicated the fuel pump relay was working.

With my new pump installed, I listened for the pump running in just the key "on" position. I believe I barely heard it running after the repair as it was running very quietly which indicates the +12v was there which supports my theory.

I have power to the HEI distributor, but nothing down the plug wires. I would like a test to see if the internal(removable) coil is good, maybe a resistance value


Below is a generic proceedure for checking your ignition coil.

Ignition Coil Resistance
  • With the key off and the battery lead to the ignition coil disconnected, use an ohmmeter to measure the primary and secondary winding resistance of the ignition coil. when checking the resistance across the windings, pay particular attention to the meter reading. if the reading is out of specifications, even if it is only slightly out, the coil or coil assembly should be replaced.
  • To check the primary windings, calibrate an ohmmeter on the X1 scale and connect the meter leads to the primary coil terminals to test the winding.

  • An infinite ohmmeter reading indicates an open winding. The winding is shorted if the meter reading is below the specified resistance. Most primary windings have a resistance of 0.5 to 2 ohms, but the exact manufacturer's specifications must be compared to the meter readings.
  • To check the secondary winding, calibrate the meter on the X1,000 scale and connect it from the coil's secondary terminal to one of the primary terminals.

Ok, these codes are signaling a malfunction within the Ignition control module. it is sending way to many signals to the coil. i recommend testing the coil for damage and irregular resistance. i will explain how to do this below. i would replace the module as well. The control moduel is Located Under hood, center, rear engine area, above valve cover, mounted in base of ignition coil pack

# A meter reading below the specified resistance indicates a shorted secondary winding. An infinite meter reading proves that the winding is open.
# In some coils, the secondary winding is connected from the secondary terminal to the coil frame. When the secondary winding is tested in these coils, the ohmmeter must be connected from the secondary coil terminal to the coil frame or to the ground wire terminal extending from the coil frame. Many secondary windings have 8,000 to 20,000 ohms resistance, but the meter readings must be compared to the manufacturer's specifications. The ohmmeter tests do not indicate such defects as defective insulation around the coil windings, which causes high-voltage leaks.
