John , abs sensor will not lock the wheels but a bad abs control unit can, try uplugging the control unit by master cyl If wheels do not unlock then open bleeders on calipers, if you get brake fluid under pressure there is a very good chance the abs unit may be bad and holding the brakes on. The abs unit is not cheap so make sure before you spend a small fortune. hope this helps. Bill

No, an abs sensor only senses the speed of the wheel. When one wheel locks up or is running considerably slower than the other wheels during braking the ABS system will reduce the braking power to that wheel to stop it locking up, hence the term Anti Lock Brakes. This happens in milliseconds. The sensor itself cannot lock a wheel up.

I have an 2004 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 4.8l with code c0237. How hard is it to replace the throttle position sensor?

C0237? That is an erratic rear speed sensor fault. Is your abs light on? The speed sensor may be unplugged, wire harness damaged, sensor may be failing. The tps is part of the throttle motor assembly. Very expensive, but very easy to change.

Where is the speed sensor located on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71.

Speed sensor for the ABS system or for the speedometer?

If the speedometer and it is four wheel drive than the speed sensor will be in the rear housing of the transfer case.

If the sensor is not in the transmission, it could be in the rear differential. The sensors at the wheels and differentials are usually for the abs system.

The stability system disabled light came on in my 2004 chevy tahoe, what is that for?

Your vehicle is equipped with vehicle stability control, what the system does is prevent the car from going out of control due to a skid, it does this by applying the brakes at each wheel very quickly to straighten the car out in the event of a skid like on ice or a wet road, the system is part of the ABS (Anti-lock brake system), when the light comes on and stays on it means that something has failed in the system and the computer that controls it has disabled the system

2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement, the pedal pulsates, the typical anti-lock brake sound is heard, and the truck feels like it is not going to stop at times

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. Abs sensor?

Yes, it could be the sensor. Check that the wires are all connected, too. Check for corrosion on the connectors, etc.
The question is, WHICH sensor...There should be one at each wheel.

2002 2WD CHEVY TAHOE ABS

Its possible that right wheel speed sensor is dropping out early making the truck think that wheel is locking up. That will activate the ABS and let the brake go on the right wheel which will make the vehicle pull slightly left. The only way to know for sure is to watch the wheel speeds on a scanner and see which one is drpping out first and replacing that speed sensor/bearing assembly.

good Luck
