My 1997 mitsubishi legnum st v6 triptronic auto trans failed local garage has informed me the pump inside has failed and cant be repaired are they worth rebuilding

dont believe it,those trannys have issues, not the pump though, bing search triptronic trans and see the same problems,

tRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT. Some of these that have these issues most of them are the Input Speed Sensor , or the reading. If its reading an abnormal rotation speed it will start the transmission at a higher gear , being it cannot properly evaluate wut speed the input shaft is turning at versus the output shaft , it cant properly modulate teh shifting pressure and this will cause the initial "clonk" when getting it into a lower selected gear.

This issue can be caused by the TCM and also the Input shaft sensor also.

I agree. Sounds to me like the TCM is bad.

I changed the radiator on my 1999 beetle and now it wont drive forward or reverse

sounds like the selector is no longer connected to the trans. Have some one move the controll and look for the linkage inside the engine compartment to move.

I have a 04 Bug Triptronic trans. When its cold

Vw transmissions are not doing well in general. They are solid planetary gear boxes, but the solenoid diagram leaves much to be desired. These solenoids are responsibles for the rough shifting. A part of the tranny called the valve body, may also be damaged. Something, I think you may have to throw money at. Good luck.

Is it okay to use a full synthetic tranny fluid in my triptronic auto 1997 honda prelude?

I would recommend to ALWAYS use what Honda recommends for your vehicle. Sometimes using the wrong trans. fluid will cause damage.
