Question about Ford Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Just purchased an 87 Ford Honey C.... aux battery shows a good charge, but when parked the outlet nor tv work?

The manual just seems to talk about external recharging. I don't see any mention of a switch, and the internal lights work fine. The faceplate over the kitchen counter appears relatively new. I use a CPAP machine and need power, without running the engine all night.

As in common with a lot of these questions on here about different queiries then i can only give the stock answer as such and that is i need to see it ? ,Here in spain we do get a lot of sunshine and camper vans i do quite a few .solar will charge the battery and this will be suitable for a TV via an inverter but a microwave is pushing it a bit iam afraid ,the amout of batteries you would need and the weight -present a problem but their are newer batteries out as i have seen them in a booster box for jump starting cars and i sceptical to say the least but ?? they appear to work -in fact even i was impressed but 400+euros for booster box .No you would need a built in generator like the friend who stays here from the Uk in the winter who has a fleetwood arrow or whatever with a built in onan generator AC on the roof and a 7.4 litre petrol engine would you beleave ,with out gas prices in europe but their you go ,anyway because of his age he cannot frive it anymore on a car licence so hes had to buy a VW LT35 which is under the weight limit of 7.5 tons for a car licence ..Right must go first customer arrives in 10 mins if you need anymore help please dont hesitate to reply via a comment .

Thank you Colin. I studied further and they only work with 120 v source, outside connection or generator (which it doesn't have). Will Solar panels and inverter prove a viable substitute? I want to be totally self-contained with ability to use t.v. microwave other appliances.

SOURCE: No dash lights, power seats or windows. alternator not charging. Engine runs

  1. It might be that when you changer the battery post you might not have connected all of the leads on the positive post. You might also check for blown circit breakers caused while changing the terminals.Try using a dc tester and search the main breakers for power. If you have the manual it shows the breakers and links in the bulb replacement section. JOHN-LA.

Your battery may not be holding its charge. Charge the battery and take a voltage reading. Then after a few hours take another reading andsee if the voltage has dropped. If that is alright, refit the battery to the car. turn off all the electrics anddo a voltage test. If the battery is discharging then ou will have to find what componant is drawing the voltage. I normally check the boot through the rear seats first.

WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE LIGHT STOPS FLASHING I MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION FOR ONE SECOND AND TURN IMMEDIATLY BACK TO THE RUN POSITION FOR 15 MORE MINUTES. THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF AGAIN . WITHIN 5 MIN. I MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION FOR ONE SECOND AND TURN BACK TU RUNNING POSITION. 15 MINUTES LATER REPEAT STEPS AGAIN AND THE KEY WILL BE REPROGRAMMED, AND STSRT THE CAR. I have a 2006 ford freestyle car will not start. All lights come on,radio works, heater blows, blinkers work, the remote device on the key chain to lock and unlock the car works.Tried 2 keys tried

What about your security system? It is a starter disable. If you remove starter relay and use jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87, the starter motor should crank. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. If it cranks, the problem is on control side of relay, right side, in the diagram. Make sure battery has a full charge.

Auxiliary power outlet not work

Some of the outlets are on the aux fuse in the passenger compartment, and the others are on the AUX PWR fuse in the fuse box near the battery.
Your owners manual should list the fuse locations.

2006 Ford Expedition will not start this morning, battery checks 12 volts, will not do anything when turn key to start position

You can jump starter relay to see if starter will crank the engine. Pull the starter relay, use jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87, terminal 30 is hot all the time and there is a fuse, the starter motor should crank the engine. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Two voltage circuits at starter motor, one is hot all the time. The other goes hot when relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through engine block. Battery positive and negative connections are important.

Toyota hybrid-want to run a wire to charge my trailer battery. Where do I pick up the power?

on your trailer plug look for a blue wire that is for aux power to charge trailer battery when your parked diconnect plug or it will drain car battery, also look in fuse box for empty holder marked aux or trailer you may have to put a fuse in it, did you put in trailer plug or was it factory ?you may have to run your own power wire if you do put i fuse in line for protection.good luck larry hope this helped or gave you some ideas.

The fuses for the trailer tow adapter are in the normal fuse panels.

Engine Compartment fuse panel
101 - Is the battery charge circuit ( hot in run position )
20 - Left Stop / Turn fuse
19 - Right Stop / Turn
5 - Trailer tow reversing lamps & Trailer Tow parking lamps

Cab Fuse Panel
23 - fuse for the relay for the trailer tow battery charge circuit

All of these are in the owners manual

Horn aux outlet cruise dont work

the horn and aux outlet use the same power circuit, I bet if you actually take the fuse out and replace it with a good one it will work.

I am assuming that you just looked at the fuses, sometimes a bad fuse will look good, but transffer no current.
