When you say no power does that mean vehicle runs but can't turn any of the accessories on? Or does that mean the vehicle was dead, couldn't jump it (or tired of jumping it) you replaced battery and it still wont turn over. Batt sits at about 12.5vdc and with vehicle running it should read 14+ right off the battery. If it starts the engine for about a week or so then it sounds like you have a trickle voltage to ground somewhere. Fog lights and sound systems are known for this. OR your alternator just isn't replacing what is demanded from the battery. Most Auto part stores offer an aternator/ batt check for free. Hard to say without any feedback from you (just a little on the vague side) I can tell you Iv'e had all these nightmares and more. but the lower fog lights staying on, due to one side shorting to ground about killed me. Another Iv'e had the pleasure of knowing is Batt cables ground( -black) is the worst and coming ina close second is the pos + red ether bad corrosion you can see or corrosion you cant see (somewhere under the rubber coating) or just a plain loose connection. then coming last and not my favorite is a big fat wire from a sound amp or speakers that is touching metal somewhere. One by one in the last 44years Iv'e had to hunt down and eliminate. Hopefully I have covered at least one of your issues~~~kinda hard when you just sit there and stare~~ good luck my powerless friend~~~~~~SC

You may have overlooked the importance of the GROUND for the engine. Make sure the grounds on the batteries are clean and tight and also the ground from the battery to the engine block AND the frame of the truck.

How long can you let a new corvette sit before the battery runs down

With a good quality new battery it should be fine for one year or so, type of battery is important also, conventional car batteries tend to lose around 5% of their power each month or so.

It will turnover but will not start unless i jump it . new bat. & new bat. cables . I did a tunup ,just not we not start on its owne

if the battery you just bought isn't cranking over the motor (should sound like the motor is turning over slower than before) you may have bought the wrong battery. Batteries have different ratings based on what they are used for. One thing to look at is CCA's or Cold Cranking Amps. If you bought a new battery with less CCA's than what the engine calls for, even though all car batteries are rated for same voltage, your amperage is off and isn't quite enough to give the starter the power it needs to kick over your engine. By jumping the truck, you are giving it the bit of extra power needed. Now battery cables could also be a problem.....I had a set of jumper cables that were very cheap and they never transfered power the same way as my $80 pair that had a better gauge wire...same thing for battery cables but generally this shouldn't be an issue. If you have your old battery still, look at the CCA's on the battery label and compare them to the new battery.....should be different.

Last 14 months - 4 new batteries & new alternator fitted. Car still not starting and had to be returned to garage! Any ideas!

You need to have your electrical system checked for excessive draw. If the shop that worked on it has not done so, bring it to another shop...This is a routine procedure which definitely should have been done at least after the second battery! I can't offer a solution or "quick fix" because without doing that procedure I'd only be guessing!!!
