Slack off the bolts that hold the alternator. Pryl the alternator away so that the belts ary snug. Tighten the bolts.

Torque setting Toyota Land-cruiser 80 Series 4.5 1995-98
Engine code: 1FZ-FE, 1HD.
Stage 1: 20 Nm (Start tightening bolts from center to outwards)
Stage 2: 39 Nm
Stage 3: Rotate each bolt by 90 Degrees.
Stage 4: Further rotate each bolt by 90 Degrees

That would be a question for a Land Cruiser parts tech. I would say it bolts in but that is it.

It is actually easier to pull them both because of the top bellhousing bolts and the tourqe converter bolts.

you dont,they are bolted thru the roof to the chassis cage.means taking down roof lining etc (too big a job)
why dont you just mask up around them......paint them with hammerite.

I need the torque settings for head bolts on a land cruiser ,it is a 1997

  1. Tighten all bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
  2. Mark the front of the bolt with paint and retighten bolts 90° in the proper sequence.
  3. Retighten an additional 90°. Check that the painted mark is now facing rearward.

Auto transmission removal

remove the transmission. the torque converter should just stay on the motor. if its bolted the engine the bolts will now be uncovered. if its a slip on mark the converter and the shaft to make sure you line in back up right.
