If your check engine light is not on, the sensor is definitely connected (or the check engine light bulb is blown!) have someone pull codes on the car if the CEL is on and see if a knock sensor code is present

2000 Nissan frontier ran rough and stalled out. will not start. only code is for knock sensor. Could the knock sensor cause this?

Ecu collects data from all sensors. If they don't "add up" it throws the code. Could be corrosion on the connection or connector is off.
Find the knock sensor on the block, check the connection. If a bad connection scrape spade to bright metal both sides reconnect, clear code. Recheck codes. No help must be knock sensor. so must be changed.

Knock engine sensor light on truck is hesitating/

Did they replace the knock sensor?Check the wire going to the sensor(knock).Look for a bare place hiting up against something ,grounding it out.Make sure the plug to knock sensor is good. And make sure it is making a good connection,Knock sensors also ground a part of the computer to feed back imformation. This connection is a must, the truck will not perform at all, stumble, miss, and carry on.Sometimes even backfire. If they did not replace the knock sensor, replace it with high quality sensor from NAPA,or oem from dealer. This sensor has to be made perfect,no room for inperfection. The knock sensor is easy to replace, they just screw in a hole in the block. When removing the sensors, nothing will come out such as oil or water, this is a dry threaded hole.It is a bell shaped sensor. If you don`t know which sensor is bad, purchase one.replace one,and if there is no change, replace the other side with the old sensor you just took out,it will be a good one.I hope this helps you,Let us know if it does.

93 Lexus GS300 knock sensor electrical wiring?

Knock sensors are small, metal objects that detect prignition be fore it happens and cut fuel to the motor for a split second the keep it from destroying itself. (very important on turbocharged cars=melted pistons can result)
The leads are attached to the engine harness. Unscrew your bad sensor, put some teflon tape or paste on your new sensor and install by hand, then tighten with the correct wrench. Plug in the harness plug.

You need to change the knock sensor. The knock sensor advances or retarts timing until spark knock is eliminated. If the wire is not connect to the knock sensor you will get the knock sensor code. So make sure the wire is connected to the knock sensor. Please let me know what happens.

Knock sensor

Check knock sensor wiring and replace the knock sensor.

To find the knock sensor look at the top of the engine block below the intake manifold. There you should find the knock sensor wherethe throttle cables connect to the throtle body, reaching it from underneath, and bolted to the top of the motor , below comes a picture:

92 lexus es300 knock sensor

Need to remove the upper and lower air intake manifold.  There are two knock sensors for the front and rear pistons banks.  If you plan to do this yourself it is about 1 to 2 hours.  While you are at it, there is a short coolant bypass hose sitting in the same spot, replace it.  Another problem with the knock sensor is the wire harness used to connect the two knock sensors into one connection sometimes wears out and contacts the metal on the engine causing false signals to the ECM, so replace this cable also.
Just did this last summer on my 99 ES300.  Pretty easy.
