Not 100% sure about Suzukis but on my ford the same happened to me and I had to program them at the same time. Hopefully this helps.

You need to get one that works on the same wide range frequency as the reciever in the car, and then it's a simple matter of opening both the new and old fobs, and matching the fine frequency settings by putting the little switches inside where they should be according to the old fob's switches. If there are no switches in the old fob, it's preset and there's not much you can do about it.

Should be able to take it apart and take the battery out for 15-30 seconds or longer. Then put it back in. While your at it, you might as well change the battery but doing this will reset it.

there should be a fuse under the hood in the engine compartment it looks like a black box it is a relay and there is no way of checking if they are blown unless you replace it....
