I have a 2002 pontiac montana. Yestarday I started hearing a knocking noise in the front end when I am driving and idleing. II also feel the knocking on my floor board and feel a vibration in my gas pedal....

Lissa,
Hate to deliver the bad news, but it doesn't sound good... One of the simple things you can do is to check the oil and see what it looks like, if it is foamy, you got water in to the oil and a major expense. the nest woudl be to have a compression check done, it shouldn't take a good mechanic but a half hour to diagnose and estimate.
Best regards,
Ck

Good morning. I have a 2005 Chevy Impala which has approximately 144,900 miles. The engine light came on & I'm scared to drive it. I plan on taking it to the shop on Monday. What could possibly...

It is impossible to answer that question until we know what the error codes are. I would suggest you take it to one of the auto parts stores and ask them to read the error codes for you. They can also tell you what the codes are calling out and give you some suggestions on what needs to be done.

Go to napa and they have the connectors that plug in to your existing wire connection, I don't know if they have the one for yours, but it won't hurt to check, you don't have to cut or splice the wireing with there trailer connectors, plug it in and done.

I have a toyota rav4 and is stuck in low range do you now wat mgth be the problem

Hi Leonardo,

Sometimes the stress on the drive train (when its locked) can prevent the transfer case from releasing. In such cases, what needs to be done is relieve the stress. This can be done in a number of ways.

Lets go with the easiest.
  • Find an area where you won't have to worry about backing in to anything.
  • Start backing up. bring it up to about 10 mph.
  • Shift into neutral (No brakes, you should be moving)
  • Try to change the range select on the transfer case
  • If it doesn't work the first time, stop and put it in drive.
  • Again, bring it up to 10-15mph and shift to neutral.
  • This time while you are trying the range, weave back and forth (left - right) at the same time. What this does is take advantage of the different turn radii between the left and right wheels. During one of those turns it should pop back to high for you.
That ought to do it.

Best regards
Mike

P.S. - Sometimes that truck I'm standing in front of does the same thing. I always win but it can get frustrating. Be patient, you'll get it.

The steering wheel of my BMW 325i, 1993 model will not turn and its locked.the key will not turn also.

Hi there,

Sometimes if the wheels are turned when the vehicle is turned off, there is stress put on the steering lock plate which can cause the symptoms you are describing.

If this is the problem, it is remedied by turning the steering wheel a little further (in whichever direction the wheels are facing) to take the stress off the plate. Try the key at the same time. It doesn't take much to release the lock pin. The results should be immediate.

Best regards,
Mike

Customer with cracked oil pan on Verona 2004.

The only problem we have with the oil pan is that drain plug gasket leaks if not change out at oil changes. I replaced one pan due to threads coming out. But as for stress cracks, little fine lines, normal. They don't leak, leave it alone. Don Suzuki tech
