At oil heat light coming on and causing 4 wheel drive to engage

in subarus all wheel drive is working at all the time ,and there is no oil temp. signal for engine oil, there is only oil pressure sensor. There is one for your rear differential oil ,check if your oil was ever changed ,on the back of differential there is a oil release screw and above it you will find sensor with cable attached to it ,check your oil level ,or replace it with 90w75 synthetic oil ,clean the magnet attached to oil plug ,it also might be oil temp sensor that is bad

What does warning light "A/T Oil Temp warning light mean

I Would Say It Means Automatic Transmission Fluid Is Hot ,So Check Its Level There should Be a Dip Stick For This If Not Then i Would Think something Is Wrong in The Gear box Or The Gearbox Oil Cooler If Fitted Could be An Integral Part Of The Radiator.

Had oil changed...then the oil light started coming on 1 wk later ...started making a knocking sound...took it back & they checked the oil it gad a little bit to much...then as i was driving it went...

Sounds as if your engine has failed internally (connecting rod or crankshaft bearing) To determine the actual failure, as well as the cause and extent of the damage, the engine will need to be removed and completely torn down and inspected by a professional with lots of experience. Having the oil changed may or may not have anything to do with the failure, depending upon what happened during the oil change. IE: was the engine run without oil??? (a question that may never be fully answered)
Most, if not all engines will run perfectly well with more or less oil than "perfect". (within a quart).
If a lot overfull, the crankshaft can whip the oil causing air bubbles in it that lowers the oils ability to lubricate. Being a quart low will not do anything bad unless you are towing or doing excessive work that requires the engine to operate at higher temps. In that case the oil can overheat and chemically break down. (unusual but can happen and is detectable in an analysis)
Have a different shop take a look at your problem and see what their diagnosis is. Document everything they find in case you end up in a legal battle with the first shop.
You first need to know exactly what happened before doing anything further though.
A quick check you can do is to try turning the engine by hand. if you can't, it's likely locked up.

87 jeep Comanche running up to 220 to 230, the boils when shut off. New radiator, new pump, new hoses, new thermostat, belts tight etc.. Is there two different pumps for this truck? Each running in the...

Your thermostat seems too low, all emission stuff will not shift at too low of temp. There is nothing wrong with a 230 or higher heat soak condition. Pushing out coolant, however is inconvenient...If you are topping it up each time, consider trying to let is spit out during this heat soak and just drive it...it may stabilize after a time or two.

You cannot do anything about heat soak, except electric fans, but engines have always done it, it is physics and causes not harm.

Doubt there would be a different pump direction.

And I think 195 may be the temp that you want in thermostat... parts place has the spec.

If overheating, fix that, but your description did not say you overheat on the road...I would not get worried until gauge pegs.Temp is a good thing... Too low thermostat leads to premature engine failure and unnecessary emissions. you NEVER heat the oil enough at too low temp.
