What exactly does the idlerarm do,is their any adjustment, what is involed.how can I check for vacume leaks?

The idler arm, in a certain design of steering system, holds one end of the steering linkage. It is bolted to the chassis, and has a ball joint at each end. If either of these gets worn, the steering becomes slack.

Sounds like your serpentine belt is slipping. There should be a diagram in front of your radiator where your hood latch is. That should show you how to tighten it up or replace it

Sqeaking from the accessory belt drive. could be a bearing in one of the pulleys, the pump, the alt or the belt tension has weakened. It occurs off and on, usually just off idle but sometimes at idle. Is...

common cause is the belt gets worn and stretched, yes the tensioner is suppose to keep its tension but also the tensioner gets weak and all it takes is a couple slips of the belt to harden and you will get a squeal. Spray WD 40 on tensioner, idler pulleys, alternator behind pulley, not on belt or where belt rides on pulleys but at all bearing locations. Did squeal stop? If not replace belt. Usually a chevy water pump will leak, or grind not sqeak unless there is rusty non lubricated so called coolant in it which 1974 maybe but 2007 na im sure you didn't neglect this baby. You can also inspect the belt carefully, possibly buy a can of belt dressing and spray belt but do make sure you use a ratchet and check your belt tensioner for smooth non sticky tension pressure.

Ford transit 2.4 turbo diese keeps throwing serpentine belt ? any

Most common problem is the tension-er pulley is bad remove the belt and check to see if any pulleys have play in them see if they wiggle back and forth normally the idler pulley bearing wears out and causes the belt to ride at a slight angle marking it throw off the belt. hope this helps.

2006 kia sorento makes a squealing sound under

It is either the tesnioner or the belt....easy way to find out is to spray the pulley that has no grooves....that's the tensioner. Spray it with WD-40 or equivalent, in the middle of the pulley. That is the bearing housing. Spray only that first. Start the motor...if it goes away, then you have found your problem. Try not to spray the belt.

If it still squeals, spray the belt with the engine running. If it squeals, replace the belt.

Has anything been done to the motor recenlty? If so, one of the pulleys may be a little off-centered.

Let me know what you find.

My 2005 ford escape has a terrible squeek coming from under the gas pedal. It becomes worse as I accelerate. I can't find any type of linkage to lube.

there is nothing under the floor of the pedal will make that terrible squeak sound. have your belt check make sure they are tight and not slipping, it will also make that loud squeak sound if it slips. go to auto parts store and purchase a can of WD40 and spray it on all the pulley under the hood. have the engine off while spraying the pulleys. don't worry if it get on other parts of the engine. Common problems with pulleys squeaking on many vehicle.

When I start my jeep, half the time a squeal sound is made. What could that be?

Could be a few things....these are a couple of places to start and things to try.

Your pulleys: spray WD-40 with a straw at the bearing area...like on the alternator. Do one pulley at a time.

Check your belts for glazing....they'll look shiny.

Do one at a time....if you do them all at oncde, you won't know which one got silenced by the spray.

Fan belt was broken at 28000 kms replaces but squeaking noise on start comes plz help to rectify the prob thanx

Spray some WD-40 on the pulleys...one at a time. This will let you know which pulley needs lube or replacement. If your belt is too tight it will squeek also.

Do the first thing...let me know what you find.
