When driving my 2002 Dodge Durango 5.9 it makes a noise like a ball rolling in a drum, which would almost make you think there's a hole somehwere. Now, however, I can hear grinding on my left

I had the drum repair because it was rusted. But still hear the same noise

Check wheel bearings and axles. Transfer case may have a stretched chain too.

Testimonial: "Yes and no to my answer. When i drive it, it vibrates the truck too. Sometimes I have to slow down some to ease the truck. It fills like the wheel wants to come off. But I kno it won't. But its scary sometimes when I drive."

The rubber parts that mount the shock absorbers , struts and other suspension parts may have dried out some. Jack up a wheel and shake it ro see if you can see any loose components.

2002 Dodge Durango SXT 4.7L RWD shaking (serious vibration) badly between 70 to 80 mph

If it were me I would take out the drive shaft and check the play in the universal joints (I know you said they were replaced). Unlike ball joints they should exhibit good freedom of movement and flop from one position to the next as the shaft is rotated in the hand. Check that the bearing cup retaining clips are present on all sides. If there is any tightness in a bearing it is possible that either one of the cups has been pressed (hammered?) in too far or that a needle bearing was dropped from the outer race into the cup during assembly. Also check that the cup holders (arms) are not bent, sometimes if care is not taken to support the back of the 'arms' when installing the bearing cups the 'arms' will bend.

2002 dodge durango whinning noise will your

Thank you for getting back to me. I would like you to check your transmission fluid. start the engine and let it warm up at idle speed for about 15 min and check the fluid. It sounds like you do not have enough in it, there for the whining noise with increase of speed since your transmission is speeding up with the rate of your vehicle. If this does not help and the problem persist please let me know. If the noise you were hearing was coming from the u joints of the vehicle it would not make a whining noise with increase of speed. The u joints will only make a noise when they are going bad when the vehicle is shifted into any gear from the shifter( EX: park to drive, park to reverse ECT.)

When does a water pump typically need to be replaced

there really is no set time for a part to quit.... it makes abit of a chirpy squealy noise when it's going.... and you will see some antifreeze leaking out of the holes in the front of the casting... when you see that... time to replace the pump.
