Question about 2009 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0
Drove it this morning, everything was fine.. got in it this afternoon..and no power steering, has a red light on instrument panel..( steering wheel symbol ) unbelievably hard to turn the wheel, scared to drive it this way.. its snowing out right now.. any advice ?
You CAN NOT USE IT AT ALL you have NO
STEERING when you loose that type
Need a professional scan tool, to check for codes,
& then go to trouble charts, in factory manuals, to
find a problem
Nothing at all you can do
Fuses you remove & look at or test, but if blown,
replacing it won't fix anything likely, as they blow for a reason

Red this article:
Eventhough the level is right, the fluid might need replacing (every 3~5 years and 50.000-100.000 miles).
You can read how to recognize bad/old fluid here: http://www.hondaclub.com/forum/articles/1492-power-steering-fluid-lifeline-your-steering-system.html

Testimonial: "good spot on advice "
Sounds like the alternator / power steering belt is either loose or broken.
A new one is the only repair.
Very cheap part and Its not major work to replace
