Question about 1995 Ford F250
Tried changinging trans fluid and filter ..unplugging electrical connector and plugging that back in took to trans shop to see if there was a code no code and also put a can of seafoam in truck trans ..it stopped for several days and started again
Look for a bad fuse. It affects shift patterns.

Sounds like u have an e4od trans with a torque converter that is slipping when it try's to lock in. if you can live with it drive it if not have a new or rebuilt torque converter put in with a new seal. fords e4od trans have had all updates and modifications as of 1995. mine has been shifting ruff for the last 4 years. I will drive mine until it quits if it does.

there is a speed sensor on the top of the rear differential. either the sensor is bad or it has become unplugged. when the truck doesnt know how fast it is going, the trans goes into "limp mode" to protect itself...whic causes it to shift hard and if u look you'll notice the o/d light is blinking

A reason for hard shifting could be a problem with many things with various degrees of seriousness. It could be your ATF( automatic transmission fluid) is low or broken down and old. This would cause the hardness and the reason for stop and go traffic effecting it. Another possibility is your transmission is just shot, and the timing gears inside are worn and not properly shifting at the correct RPM causing a **** during shifting.
Some possibilties, not all!

check to see if the ground wire from the battery to the engine is tight if the cable is loose it will cause the injectors to flood the egine

First of all get your tranmission fluid and filter changed not flushed, second of all their is a wire underneath that plugs into the tranny that is held on by a bolt clip, if this wires rubs through and grounds out which it usually does it will take out your over drive and the light will flash, your top speed will be 45 MPH.
