Pull starters have a centrifugal clutch that moves to engage when it senses spinning by pulling the rope. It is either gummed up or binding and must be replaced.

What does it mean traction engage keeps popping up on my dash

Traction control is engage for some reason. It should only engage when the wheels slip and you loose traction if it engages for no reason most likely a problem in the system. This works with the abs both monitor wheel speed could be a sensor

Pullstart won't pull 2 levers are stoping it

Hi Neil:
Looks like a chainsaw!
- I'd start by removing the starter assembly and then trying to turn the flywheel by hand to make sure it's not seized.
- Then pull the start cord to make sure the starter assembly is functioning properly.
- Re- install and make sure the levers (engaging dogs) are in the right position.
Should be OK.

1983 dodge pickup wont start unless pullstarted

check for bad battery ( load test) as the appears that the battery is not good enough to start and have enough current to run the ignition system as well. BY pull starting all the battery power is saved for the ignition and it fires up

Starter not engaging

The starter solenoid mounted on top of the starter has two functions, as the key is operated the solenoid slides the starter pinion to engage the flywheel, THEN operates heavy duty contacts to power the motor. The solenoid is not engaging the pinion.1726daf9-e191-4168-8e99-cab63cae5995.gif

4wd will not engage all the time.sometimes it works great and then it will just quit.it is vaccum engaged and i have checked it and the fluids and they seem to be working.

Yes it is vacuum engaged. Check the vacuum motor and last but not least there is a shift fork that it engages to lock your front axle. Sometimes the shift fork gets bent and will not allow engagement. Also check the rubber vacuum line that runs to the engagement motor.
