The point made that old batteries fail in cold weather is valid. best have it tested with a load test. Next run the fault codes to check for ambient temp,MAF/MAP/VAF sensor operation as any one will affect cold starting

First thing that comes to mind is a battery that is still strong but can't make the grade went temperature is as you say. Is this an old battery, is it a no service battery, has the battery been checked for proper fluid levels, has battery been tested with hydrometer. What I'm getting at is get your battery checked. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

How do I trouble shoot no cold start?

hi bob,
what engine ? 2.5L V6 or 2.0 L 4 banger?
does it crank, if it don't crank, its a no crank issue (100% unique)
if it cranks fast, it's a no start and run symptom.
is the gas old?

if it cranks ok, try, a tuneup., ever do a tuneup this decade?
if it cranks ok and it is tuned (spark plugs etc) then try instant start in a spray can.

watch scotty do a true , no start
classic !

My gas mileage has decreased quite a bit. Sometimes I can smell gas when I get out of my car, and occasionally inside it. I couldn't see any obvious leaks, so I took it in and the mechanic couldn't...

not sure on this amerian car but most vehicles have a inspection cover over the top of the fuel tank under the back seat and i think you may be leaking on the flexible piece rubber tuber around this area

So I picked up a 2006 mini last year and I noticed in the last couple of months that the overflow tank goes empty every couple of days. I hadn't noticed anything on the ground until I had my oil...

Start on a day you're not using the car. park it in a spot where any fluid leaks will be imeadiately obvious and if you see a fluid leak jack the vehicle on the spot and get under it and start looking for wet spots. It could be something as simple as a bad or loose hose clamp.

What kind/ type of oil do I use?

If you are in a cold climate area....use 10W-30/10W-40/10W-50.

If you are in an area that doesn't get below freezing often (32F) use 20W-40.

If you are in a climate that is hot often...use 5W-30.

An easy choice?.......10W-30.

1996 GMC Jimmy Need help trouble shooting. Turns over but won't

Fuel pump or injector assembly. Need to know what the fuel pressure is before throwing a part at it. By what you are saying I'm leaning tword the fuel pump. Make sure the wires at the top of the sending unit are not burn. There is a small 4 wire connector on the inside of the sending unit. If it's burnt you will need to replace both the pump and sending unit.

I had the same problem with my explorer. I found that the battery needs replaced and I never had the problem again.
