The dealer near me charges $365 for a 4-cyl, $395 for a 6/8 cyl, or $425 for a 12-cyl. The only actual repair/maintenance you get for that price is an oil change (with Mobil1 and the MB filter, which are CRITICAL, ~$120 on its own) and tire rotation. This makes a lot of people think it's a scam, but really, it's a little steep, but definitely worth doing. The rest of the service consists of a massive inspection of your vehicle covering the following items.

-- Fluid levels
-- Tire tread/pressure/wheel condition
-- Air filter (inc. clean out housing)
-- Cabin air filter (inc. clean out housing)
-- Lubricate sunroof rails, locks, hinges, and seals on body.
-- Drive belt and tensioner
-- HVAC system operation

the transmission on your MB is sealed with no way to check the trans fluid level,(no dipstick provided for) that is why the report says "sealed". MB did this to stop customers from overfilling there transmissions, which can cause severe damage if not done properly at the correct fluid temp, this requires special test scan tools.

Try this, it is the procedure for resetting the ASSIST computer on many Mercs
1...Turn Key to position No:2 in the ignition / steering lock and immediately press AND Hold the button "000.0" (the trip reset button) TWICE within the space of 1 (one) second.

2…Turn the key to position No: 0 in the ignition / steering lock. Then release the button.
3...Press AND Hold the button "000.0" (the trip reset button) and turn Key to position No:2 in the ignition / steering lock. Keep button pressed
After about 10 seconds
the service indicator will reset and an acoustic signal may briefly sound

I thought they where either on the side of the core support(follow the wire harness and it should go to the relay). If not remove the fuse box lid and then take out the screws retaining the lid housing and you will find a series of relays. There will be one for high speed (engine uses this when temp. is to high) the other is a low speed relay(this is the climate control aux. fan relay) They may have fuses on top of them I know the older models did. 1.6) EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve (actuator)

What is it? This is a device that reduces engine emissions of nitric oxides by allowing a measured amount of exhaust gas to re-enter the intake manifold and mix with the air prior to entering the cylinders. The EGR can be vacuum (older types) or electrically driven (modern) or a hybrid combination of both (intermediate age). Adding inert exhaust gas to the intake charge artificially enriches the fuel air mix (by diluting the air) and thereby reduces ignition temperatures associated with lean running conditions

Where is it located? The EGR is associated with the intake manifold. The EGR is sited at a point of contact with both the exhaust and intake manifolds. If the exhaust manifold is remote to the inlet manifold, for example onthe other side of the engine, an exhaust feed pipe leading from the exhaustmanifold to the EGR is provided.

How does it work? Generally intake manifold vacuum acting on a diaphragm draws up on a pintle valve to open a connection between a (usually round) entry port for the exhaust gases and an exit port (usually rectangular) to the intake manifold. The opening of some modern EGR valves iscompletely under the (ECU) control of an electrical motor/solenoid. Since an open EGR port effectively acts as a vacuum leak in the inlet manifold leading to potential starting and idling difficulties, the EGR valve operation is often impeded by an electrical over-ride at cold/start-up until the engine reaches running temperature and high revs. The ECU takes signals from the coolant temperature sensor to determine when the engine is hot before allowing the EGR to function. In some cases, a differential pressurefeedback exhaust (DPFE) sensor, connected to pipes on the exhaust feed to the EGR, informs the ECU when and by how much the EGR should be open.

My mercedez benz sprinter does have power like it used to, the dashboard keeps displaying an EGR light.


replace egr valve with new one, check the switch or vacuum lines to it for leaks or bad connections.

check your volt gauge on the dash. if it's working properly, then your car is throwing a bad code. if the battery looks as though it's taking more than 14 volts, or less than 10, you have a problem.

C200 CDI 2004 diesel Have fault no. P1408 diagnosed but dont know what it is


p1408 is==manufacture control auxiliary emission controls which means that it refers to egr system, it may be a loose wire or it needs taken off and cleaned or replaced. if taken off and cleaned make sure carbon is removed at engine where it moun ts. have a good day !! check for egr vacuum hose break etc.

Would like to know where#2&#5 OXYGEN SENSOR IS


the oxygen sensor is inline with the exhuast system. look down the pipe and it should be just under the hood abouta foot or so away from the cylinder head in the exhaust manifold. the egr valve should be inbetween the exhaust manifold with one rubber(usually orange) attatched to it. what seems to be wrong with these items?

97 C230 ODB2 P400 code, EGR System where should I start


Check your IAC Idle Air control valve. It is located on the top right back of the motor behind the air intake. You can also remove the EGR valve and check to see that the piston is not gummed up. If it is then replace that. Also look for simple cracks on the boots or hoses sometimes that will cause this to happen. If this helped please rate. Thank you
