Find a timing light and hook up pos. to battery negative to battery and clip on lead to no 1 plug wire, start engine and point towards from pulley .Paint timing marks with white out., they will show up easier when the light flashers.

SOURCE: how do i remove the headlight on a 1990 ford festiva ?

The headlight is easy to remove once you know the trick. That is that you first have to remove the grill in the middle. Look in the back and you will see how the grill is attached and you can remove that first. Then you will have easy access to the 4 screws around the outside of the headlight frame. Remove those screws and turn the bulb ring 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and pull to remove bulb unit. Now you can remove the lamp. To replace, reverse removal procedure. Do not touch the bulb or oils from your finger will cause to it not last long.

1990 ford festiva over heated and blew radiator now will not start

Probably blew the head gasket, warped the head or the timing belt is broken. Look inside the oil fill cap and watch to see if anything is moving inside, cam shaft or rockers, when you crank the engine over. If you can see them and they don't move, the belt is broken. Probably time to get rid of it and find something else to drive.

I have a 1990 festiva and it will run until it gets warm then it dies.

It sounds like an ignition problem. Next time you are experiencing the problem, check to see if spark plugs are firing.I would guess ignition coil.
