Question about 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Silverado. 4x4 works when the temp outside is warm... But not when cold. Buttons on the selector don't do anything most of the time. Light is on for auto 4wd but it's not engaged. When i drive around enough and things warm up...I can push the buttons to switch into 2hi or 4hi but the lights just flash and then do nothing.

vacuum leak or vacuum locker solenoid problem. a great way to check for both is to remove both vacuum lines from the solenoid (located on firewall above destributor), and put a connector between them, push the button on the dash and see if it locks in.

2004 silverado hd 2500 4x4 starts great when engine is cold. When you try to restart after driving for a while starter has to crank longer then normal for truck to start. Not sure why this is happening....

Two things to check: check fuel pressure before and after it warms up and after warms up, check ignition system look for low spark, if you have a low spark and go from there. Might help to also check tps.

Have a 2004 s60 volvo i have a symbol that comes on next to outside temp indicator did not come on till weather got cold

If it is a gear looking symbol (in the owners manual it is called a snowflake), it comes on when the outside temp is between 31-36 degrees F.

2004 camry ac light blinking and throws hot air. Suggestions?

My 2003 Toyota Camry AC often starts blowing hot air and the AC light starts blinking. I don't know why the following process works, but it does. Using the temp selector (left) reduce the temperature all the way down to Max Cold and then push the Auto button. It will start blowing out very cold air. After a little while push the temp selector to the desired temperature.

I have a 2002 silverado 5.3 when its cold outside an I start it for the first time it idly high then drops way down an I have a hard time keeping it running till the motor gets warm

Sounds like possible coolant temp sensor, this regulates fuel according to temp outside, this can be checked with a scan tool to see what dgree it is reading

2004 suburban one day ac worked fine the next day all I can get is heat and I can not shut it off

Startby having the freon gas checked, next would be a stuck blend door, this door is controled by an actuator motor, i would say the motor has gone bad if you cant get the hot air from coming inside, you turn to cold on the selector it shouldnt be hot air maybe warm depending on the temp outside,.

On my wifes 2004 yukon, the engine warms up and the blower works fine, but it takes forever for the air to finally blow warmly. when it finally does, if we switch it to another location (floor or defrost),...

iwould check the selector motor, and also replace the thermostant, start with the stant first, the selector motor is what runs the door for hot or cold the motor is a common problem,if the temp gauge is showing a quick warm up temp then its the selector motor, if it takes a while to reach operating temp then replace the t-stant,also make sure the coolant is full in radiator, check when cold or warm, dont open when hot, hope this is helpful.

Fully warmed up; blowing hot and cold; Suzuki XL-7

Its just a vent damper plate not operating, it's like a gate which controls the flow of air,,usually they are operated by vacuum, or cables.
Service center time, unless you are handy with your own repairs.
