Question about 2006 Pontiac Torrent
Check engine light is on 2006 Torrent, have had it checked in August (repair shop did a tune up) light was off for several days then came back on. Had checked by Pontiac Dealership, Replaced coil. Several days later light back on. Dealership replaced spark plugs and wires (again)did fuel induction service and brake fluid service. Light came back on again. It is now November and we are still having problem. Dealership can not figure out P30 codes. Help.
Ex wife had similar prolems. Check ignition switch and/or check gas cap for proper seal.

If wiggling the wires cured the code, then one of the wires is broken inside the insulation. Pull on each wire one at a time. look for the colored insulation to stretch, this will be the broken wire. For the other car that wont rev up, this is a common when the catalytic concverter is plugged up. This will also cause MAF codes, and in turn, TRAC OFF light.

disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, this will reset the light, but if the problem that turned the light is no repaired the light will come on again in a few days.

Hi if the check engine light is still on then the problem is still present you will have to get it scaned find out the fault code and repair that before the check engine light will go out
no you can't jump it to clear the codes it has OBD2 to clear the code you need a scan tool
hope this helps you

Without your actual trouble code, I am assuming that you are have a misfire on cylinder # 5. The computer cannot really tell what is causing the misfire only that cyl 5 is not putting out full power. If it misfires when cold then smooths out as it warms up, I would say it is probably an injector that is sticky, as it warms up it starts working properly.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion. I will have that checked out. I will also ask my mechanic what the actual trouble code says."
Does it have the 2.3l Quad 4 engine? If so replace the plastic piece that the coils go into, they go bad and leak spark to the cam towers and then you get a nice one or multiple cylinder misfire.
