Question about 1990 Nissan Sentra
With the vehical running or not, clutch seems to be functioning ok , if you have it running and try pushing it into gear, the car will nudg forward a little with clutch engaged and not at all if disengaged but will not go into any gear fully
The clutch isn't working correctly if you have to go through all that to get it into gear. You can check the shifter rails on top of the transmission, but that takes removal and dis assembly of the top cover on the transmission.

Testimonial: "The problem was infact a broken tranny mount that caused the linkage to bind up. replaced the mount and all works again"

just cause the relay clicks and makes noise does not mean its working properly that relay provided you have the right one will engage the clutch and the chances of the clutch being bad are very slim so make sure that you have the right relay and get a replacement just for arguements sake and try it also when you select the air cond does the selector light to show that its working that also could be the problem now if the system is out of refriderant this could also be the problem.Hope this helps

SOURCE: nissan clutch problem
If your not able to shift into any gear that means your clutch is not engage/disengaging. Check for fluid leaks, you said topped off and fluid levels were low? It sounds like you have a Slave cylinder or master cylinder leak, if its leaking its bet to replace both.
