Sounds like the air to the fuel intake is being reduced , check for leaks etc to the pipe work , even check if the pipe collapse's when revving vehicle , remove the airfilter to see if that is causing the problem, if all ok get the OBD codes read to point to the sensor/switch etc that may be causing the issue

SOURCE: runs first gear to max rpms before shifting.

You probably have a bad governor pressure sensor and solenoid. The pressure sensor is what normally goes bad ,but from vast experience,i replace both of them together and change fluid and filter.

SOURCE: My Dodge doesn't want to

Well you didn't mention if you had any check engine light on when it was running.

You most probably have a bad sensor that is casuing the problem. It could be one of a few...the throttle position sensor, mass air flow, or MAP sensor (which ever it has), oxygen sensor, or the air teperature sensor.

Any of these could be the culprit, and you should have it checked out to see whgat the cause is most likely simple and cheap fix.

Stop trying to do what you are doing!!! Sounds like the transmission is slipping when attempting to downshift, and engine is over-revving!! Check the transmission fluid level and correct if needed. If fluid level is correct and fluid smells burned, suspect transmission has internal problem.

Check the PCV valve and vacuum lines for leaks. You also need to check the Vacuum advance as it sounds like it might be sticking a little.

have you tried the throtle control sensor. It is cheap and would have a lot to do with the issue you are haveing. It is right up on the top of the engine left side, easy to get to. Two screws, pop it off and on with the new one. Also throw in some Lucas fuel system cleaner good to keep up with that on a regular basis. Hope it helps!

Running a gas tank lower than 1/4 level is one of the worst things you can do, since gas acts as a coolant for the fuel pump that is in your gas tank. In addition, if the gas is a dirty as you say, the cumulative deposits have become a sediment in the bottom of the tank and at low levels is no longer suspended in a volume of liquid-which will clog the 'sock' around the base of the pump, and can even clog your fuel filter. I suspect your fuel system will need a good going over-have the fuel pressure checked (simple procedure) and take it from there-good luck

My car cuts out when you give it gas,it acts like a rev limiter does, but my car cuts out even a low rpms

It's likely not getting enough gas. You will need to check the fuel pump out.

Hope this helps.

hi these cars are fitted with rev limiters, if you try to take the car over the red line, it will limit the car so as to not over rev the engine, if however you are not getting to the red line on the rev counter, then the limiter may be faulty, the only way to find this out would be through the dealers sorry....hope this helps sorta..please vote thanks

Is there somthing hitting the gas pedal, like the floor mat? Or maybe something under the dash came loose and is getting caught under the brake pedal and pushing on the gas. Put the shifter in neutral if you get into a situation where going to hit something or someone. The engine has a rev limiter, to prevent it from over reving.
