The lock cylinder is not between the fork inside. You will get better answers when the make or model is known. This is a GM answer

Dodge journey rear hatch wont lock. When you lock the car all the doors lock but you can still open the rear hatch

I would guess that either the wiring to the hatch lock is broke, or the lock or linkage isn't functioning. Have someone stand at the back of the car when locking the doors and listen for the latch actuator to click, if it does click then it's probably a broken plastic piece on the linkage, if it doesn't then either you have some bad wiring or the actuator itself may be bad.

My rear hatch wont lock

The locking mechanism may have been closed while the hatch was open.

Try unclocking with the key or pulling the release lever while the hatch is up and then try closing it to see if it will lock

Have a 2006 chevy hhr LT back hatch door wont lock or unlock. All other doors do with both key and inside lock.Hatch wont budge?

There is a manual release on the inside of the hatch door.
Somewhere in the center of the door under an oval cover plate you can open it with a screwdriver.

Rear hatch wont close. like latch locked closed before hatch is shut. how do i reset the lock?

With the doors unlocked, insert a screwdriver into the closed claw portion of the latch. Pull on the hatch door lever or push the button, while applying outward pressure on the claw. It will unlock and work normally again.

Bring it back to Circuit City, they tapped into a wire to the hatch lock and shorted it out, or cut it, they should fix it at no charge.
