It might have a partially blocked fuel line or ait intake supply.

  • Try to check your fuel filter.
  • The seive on the fuel pump.
  • The fuel injectors might be dirty.
  • The air cleaner might be clogged
or the fuel sensor might be malfunctioning.
Try to check the compression, it might be loosing compression when you demand the engine to move the vehicle.

i would check to see if the luggage compartment (trunk) isn't expanded. If it is the convertible top module wont allow the top to move. If the trunk is open or there is a problem in the wiring and a check control message is displayed the top won't open either

try the map sensor. it is cheap and takes about 20 minutes to change. Good place to start.

Hello. You are confusing the turbine over speed control sensor module of the car's transmission, with a turbo charger- a forced air induction device, of a car's engine. One has nothing to do with the other.

The turbine over-speed control module is basically a sensor that reads the speed of the transmission's input shaft (torque converter) in relation to the speed of the output shaft- transmission speed ratio/gear.

Simply put- when the P0716 error code displays, it means that the ECM has detected the value(s) of the input sensor as being out of range, like being too high or too low; or that there is some bad wiring issue in the circuit.

When this happens, the subsequent P0721 output speed sensor and P0705 transmission range sensor circuit malfunction error codes appear- and does not necessarily mean that the entire transmission components (electronic modules, sensors, or mechanical parts) have malfunctioned leading to a major transmission overhaul.

It is most likely that the Input Turbine Speed sensor needs to be replaced. Take the car to a well qualified SAE certified transmission specialist who has precise diagnostic and transmission control readers and are able to reset the computerized transmission modules once the repair is made.

DTC P0894Circuit Description with 4L80-E / 4L85-E Automatic Transmission The powertrain control module monitors the engine speed and the transmission output shaft speed. The PCM calculates turbine shaft speed and torque converter clutch (TCC) slip speed by using inputs from the automatic transmission input shaft speed sensor, automatic transmission output shaft speed sensor, and other transmission components. The forward clutch housing is used as the AT ISS rotor. Whenever the TCC is engaged, engine speed and turbine speed will closely match, indicating low TCC slip speed. In D3, with the TCC engaged, calculated transmission component slip can only occur in the torque converter. In D4 OVERDRIVE, with the TCC engaged, transmission component slip can occur in the TCC or the fourth clutch assembly. If the PCM detects an excessive TCC slip speed in D4 OVERDRIVE, when the TCC should be engaged, then DTC P0894 sets. DTC P0894 is a type C DTC. For California emissions vehicles, DTC P0894 is a type B DTC.DTC Descriptor This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC: DTC No MAF sensor DTC P0101, P0102 or P0103. No MAP sensor DTC P0106, P0107 or P0108. No TP sensor DTC P0120 or P0220. No VSS DTC P0502 or P0503. No ISS DTC P0716 or P0717. No TCC Stuck Off DTC P0741. No TCC Stuck On DTC P0742. The TCC slip speed is 100-550 for 12.5 seconds, the PCM commands the TCC Off for 2 seconds. The TCC slip speed is 100-550 for 15 sec For California emission equipped vehicles, the PCM illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp during the second consecutive trip in which the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met. For Federal emission equipped vehicles, the MIL is not illuminated. The PCM commands maximum line pressure. The PCM inhibits the TCC engagement. The PCM freezes transmission adaptive functions. The PCM records the operating conditions when the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met. The PCM stores this information as Freeze Frame, California only, and Failure Records, California and Federal. The PCM stores the DTC P0894 in PCM history during the second consecutive trip, California, or the first trip, Federal, in which the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met. For California emissions, the PCM turns OFF the MIL during the third consecutive trip in which the diagnostic test runs and passes. A scan tool can clear the MIL/DTC. For California emissions, the PCM clears the DTC from PCM history if the vehicle completes 40 warm-up cycles without an emission related diagnostic fault occurring. For Federal emissions, the PCM clears the DTC from PCM history if the vehicle completes 40 warm-up cycles without a non-emission related diagnostic fault occurring. The PCM cancels the DTC default actions when the fault no longer exists and the ignition switch is OFF long enough in order to power down the PCM. A TFP manual valve position switch malfunction can set DTC P0894. A mechanical failure of the shift solenoids or TCC PWM solenoid valve can set DTC P0894. Internal transmission failures can result in a DTC P0894. Sticking or contaminated shift valves may cause intermittent slipping in D4. DTC P0894 defaults to an elevated line pressure condition which may result in partial TCC apply. This may produce an idle surge that could stall the engine. The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table. 3. This step tests the indicated range signal to the actual selected range. A faulty TFP manual valve position switch can set a DTC P0894. 4. This step tests for excessive TCC slip speed while in a commanded TCC lock-up state and in fourth gear; and confirms that the fault is present. 5. This step tests for excessive TCC slip speed while in a commanded TCC lock-up state and in third gear. 6. This step tests for a sticking TCC shift valve. 7. This step tests for proper transmission line pressure.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox.But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please

there is a total of 27 diagnostic steps to follow, but here is some info for you:
SYMPTOM

I have a Semi-Automatic 2005 BMW e46 318i. The engine randomly cuts out (stalls) when decellerating, coming to a stop, or when stopped. Other than this problem the car drives fine, and the engine starts up...


The problem you are having sounds suspiciously like the torque converter is not disengaging to allow your engine to spin freely until you are ready to accelerate.If when decelerating or coming to a stop you feel a jerking sensation similar to driving a vehicle with a manual transmission and bringing the vehicle to a stop without depressing the clutch, then the problem you are having is faulty Torque Converter Control Solenoid or a bad Torque Converter itself. Relaced transmission and now have a rattle sound comind from torque coverter area,noise gets louder when gas pedal is applied and noise goes away during shifting of transmission btu comes right back after...


your torque converter is rattling that is the clutch on the stator inside is worn out... You can stall test your torque converter ...Do this but follow correctly. put on parking brake..on the asphalt,,,, block all four wheels...push the gas to the floor for just 2 seconds...down one, two lift off gas pedal quickly..
when your doing this WATCH your RPMs they should reach to around 2200-2400 between the 2-4 rpm if not the Torque Converter is toast!!!! If your car passes the STAll test then when you tranny was put back on one of the fly wheel covers are rubbing....!!!.

E4OD Trans stays in OD no matter where the shifter position is.


Transmission Description The E4OD transmission is a fully automatic, electronically controlled, four-speed unit with a torque converter clutch. The main operating components of the E4OD transmission include a torque converter clutch, six multiple-disc friction clutches, one band, one sprag one-way clutch and two roller one-way clutches that provide for the desired function of three planetary gear sets. Transmission gear selection in the (D) range and converter clutch operation is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650). Operating conditions are relayed to powertrain control module by various sensors throughout the vehicle. The powertrain control module compares these conditions with electronically stored parameters and logically determines how the transmission should operate. A torque converter (7902) couples the engine to the transmission gearset via the input shaft (7017) and the torque converter impeller hub. The impeller hub provides engine rpm to the positive displacement pump. The flow from the pump is proportional to engine rpm, and excess pump capacity is exhausted back to the pump inlet. The input shaft transfers power into the transmission gearset. The power input is controlled by the application of the torque converter clutch, which is scheduled through the powertrain control module. The application of the piston plate effectively replaces the hydraulic coupling between the converter cover and the turbine with a mechanical coupling between the converter cover and the turbine hub. This mechanical coupling helps improve fuel economy and wide-open throttle performance by eliminating converter slip. Transmission shift selection and torque converter clutch operation are controlled by the PCM. They are calibrated to provide the optimal transmission state. This state is commanded to the transmission solenoid body. In the (D) range, automatic operation of all four gears is possible. The transmission control switch, located on the vehicle's shift lever disables overdrive operation and enables automatic operation through the first three gears. Whenever the ignition switch is turned on, the vehicle will automatically provide overdrive operation regardless of the switch position the last time the vehicle was running. Manual gear selection is available in the 1 and 2 range. Second gear is commanded when the gearshift selector lever is in the 2 range and when downshifted into the 1 range at speeds above approximately 56 km/h (35 mph) (for diesel 48 km/h [30 mph]). First gear is commanded in the 1 range at start-ups and when downshifted into 1 range below approximately 56 km/h (35 mph) (for diesel 48 km/h [30 mph]). Any reference to intermediate brake drum or direct clutch cylinder are one and the same.

Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM): Description: The programmable speedometer/odometer module receives input from the rear brake anti-lock sensor, which is mounted on the rear axle differential housing. The PSOM processes this input signal information and relays it to the powertrain control module and the speed control module. This signal tells the powertrain control module the vehicle speed in miles per hour (mph). Used as an input in determining shift scheduling and electronic pressure control. Symptoms: Harsh engagements, firm shift feel, abnormal shift schedule, unexpected downshifts may occur at closed throttle, abnormal torque converter clutch operation or engages only at wide-open throttle (WOT). May flash transmission control indicator lamp. Diagnostic Trouble Codes: 452, P0500, P1500, P1501, P0503

Probably a bad torque converter lock up solenoid...

Try starting it in neutral, and putting it in drive without your foot on the brake (I know the car will take off in quite a hurry if it doesn't stall but it's an easy way to check for this)

If it doesn't stall, apply the brakes, and if it stalls then, it definitely is a bad lockup.

I don't know if you're familiar with the torque converter function/operation, but where it is a fluid (liquid) and not solid coupling with the engine, lockup is used at certain road speeds/engine RPMs to get rid of the power loss that always occurs between the pump and the turbine of the torque converter. It mechanically (through transmission oil pressure) locks both parts of the converter together so it then acts like the engine crankshaft is bolted right to the input shaft of the automatic transmission.

But, as you might imagine, this system has to unlock the converter when you apply the brakes for the same reason applying brakes without the clutch on a manual transmission stalls the engine.

Bad lockup solenoid will cause this to happen... The converter stays in lockup and as soon as you try to stop the vehicle, you also stop (stall) the engine.

It also might be something else but I'd say I'm about 90% sure on this one.
