If your asking about cleaning your MASS AIR FLOW meter with a special cleaner made for this application, this is OK. You can also clean with alcohol and a Q tip. Always let dry completely before reinstalling. I hope I answered your question. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

My 05 Jetta idles high but when Mass airflow sensor is unplugged it idles normal. What can cause this

When you unplugged it, the computer used default settings to measure incoming air, I think. Try cleaning (gently) the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner, or a suitable sensor- safe spray cleaner..

I took my car to have it checked at Autozone. The results were OEM Number to Cross: P0102. What is wrong with my car?

P0102 refers to the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. It may be dirty, faulty, or have a bad connection. Possible remedies are:

  • Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
  • Inspect for any air leaks near the MAF sensor.
  • Take the MAF out and clean it using a spray cleaner such as brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor.
  • Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information)
  • Replace the MAF sensor.

Where is the mas air flow sensor on a 2000 chevy blazer? Is it hard to replace? About what does the part cost?

The MAF is in-line between the air filter and engine intake. They are easy to replace but you may need to buy a "security" bit to get some of the screws out. Auto Zone list a cheaper one for around $100. You can try cleaning the thin wire elements with MAF sensor cleaner.....attached is a picture of the MAF1c5370c.jpg

Hard start when air temp is cold, backfires when warm

Try this, remove (MAF) Mas Air Flow sensor,(be sure key is OFF) so you don't set a trouble code when disconecting wire conector, with some throttle body/air intake cleaner from the outlet side of MAF, spray the sensor clean, let dry, reassemble.Remove snorkle from throttle body, and with a old tooth brush, clean throttle body& plate with cleaner, may take a couple of cans if throttle is badly 'coked' up. Hope this helps.
