Question about Cars & Trucks

2002 Honda Rancher trx350tm new carborator installed and still running rough? Hasn't had a tune up in a while. Could it be a fouled plug or does the idle / air need to be adjusted.

SOURCE: rough idle when a/c on

it is normal for your car to idle down when the ac pump cuts in just have your timing checked and adjust your idle as necessary at about 750 rps at normal idle with ac off also just make sure they havent overtightened the ac belt and pulley.

SOURCE: 1996 Honda Accord Rough Idle Even After tune up

Perform a valve clearance inspection and adjust if necessary. Tight or sticking valves will cause a misfire or rough running concern. Note: Perform valve adjustment when the engine is stone cold. 4cyl: INT 0.26mm EXH: 0.30mm (V6 engine are hydraulic and no adjust necessary.) Also check for a sticking or stuck open EGR valve. For diagnostic purposes only: Remove the EGR valve. Place a business card over the EGR passage and bolt the EGR valve back on. This plugs the EGR ports and if the misfire goes away the EGR valve is partially stuck open and is defective.
Check for low fuel pressure. Check for low compression. Check cam timing. Check for a weak ignition coil. Also don't over look the possibility of worn or broken engine mounts which cause excessive engine movement and engine vibration. -hope this helps

Why is it running a little rough. and blows black exhaust?

Sounds like it's running rich and time for a tune-up - lots of different reasons for this (fouled plugs, dirty throttle body, bad TPS sensor or EGR valve, etc etc).

Why does my 1996 grand am with a 3.1 engine run rough and stall when warm

Try a complete tune-up/ Plugs, wires, oil, air filter, fuel filter, check the timing. Plugs are probably oil fouled

Starting and rough running

Have a complete tune-up done and re-post with specific symptoms if it still is running rough.
Most likely you have either a vacuum leak or bad ignition part (spark plug or wire... possibly cap or rotor, too).
In extreme cases of neglect the fuel filter can be so fouled it will not run properly.

My 97 honda accord is blowing white smoke and running rough then i went to start it now it wont start

Sounds like either a blown motor (rings need replaced) or a bad head gasket or cracked head.
If the rings are bad your car would have felt like it was losing power because the engine will no longer have the same high compression that it's required to turn the wheels. You may have heard your engine knocking or seen a light blue colored smoke coming from your exhaust as a result of your engine burning up oil in the combustion chamber from the rings leaking.
If your head gasket is leaking or your head is cracked you'd likely find milky looking oil when you drain your oil from water/antifreeze being mixed in and noticed a white smoke coming from your exhaust that is actually water vapor coming through the exhaust.
If your car was running rough when you last shut it off try pulling all of your spark plugs and either cleaning them or replacing them all. A bad head gasket or bad rings can both foul spark plugs. A car will run rough with 1 or 2 fouled plugs, but once enough foul it will no longer run at all just sit and crank over. If changing the plugs get's it started for ya, check your tailpipe first for water, if nothing, change your oil. If no signs of water/antifreeze or milky colored oil then it's probably rings.

Rough idling and accelerating after recent tune-up. Cool Pack needed say shop

Best thing to do is go to Auto Zone or Parts Source and have the computer scanned for DTC codes.
The codes will give you a better understanding why the car is running the way it is and what parts you need to replace if any.
The cool thing is that they will scan for free and give you the how to do it your self it you decide to change the parts your self.
Good luck and hope this helps. It may not be your coil packs, it may just be bad plug wires or dirty fuel injectors.
