Try filling with cooling or get air out if you have run low on coolant

Why is heat not blowing out vents?


Either your heater core is clogged with coolant crud, or your blend door is not actuating between cold and hot. If when you turn the heater control knob from cool to warm and you hear a clicking or gear grinding noise, your blend door gear is probably broken. If not, it is just a clogged heater core. Let the engine warm up, then pop the hood and look for two black rubber hoses running from the engine into the firewall. feel both of these hoses. One should be hot and one should be warm. If one is cold or room temperature, the heater core is clogged and will need to be flushed out.

How do i fix my heater on my 2012 dodge durango its blowing cold air


Make sure that your coolant level is filled. If it's not, fill it and run it. Also try flushing the heater core to make sure you don't have debris in the core. Use a garden hose for this. Simply disconnect both hoses and put the garden hose to one side and let it flow out of the other until you see clean fluid coming out. Reconnect the hoses and fill. Run it again and see if that helps any. Check that the heater blend door is actually moving from hot to cold also. It may be stuck in the cold position casing your problem. Hope this helps. Heater core may be partially plugged. Also check the heater control valve to see if it's letting water into the heater core.

The heater kicks on but only blows cold air


Air Temperature Control Blend Door Failure No Heat or no AC (dependes on where door sticks)

In all modern cars there is a tiny DC electric motor driven gear drive that moves a plastic door that blends heated and cooled air from the AC and the heater core, this is called (interestedly enough) the air temperature control blend door actuator. The motor that moves this door fails because the door starts sticking from warping, most common complaint is no heat but it can be no AC as well. To replace these parts (blend door and blend door actuator) you must remove the entire dash from the car. Always have this problem confirmed by a dealer or qualified repair shop as it is a very expensive repair.

Other causes of no heat in the cabin are engine thermostats that are stuck open (engine runs cold) or air bubbles in the cooling system.

Heater doesn't get hot on 96 chevy truck. Blows good, just cold. Replaced thermostat, flushed radiator. Any ideas?

When i get in my jimmy to go to work its blowing hot air( with the heater on of course) and then there is a creaking noise coming from the blower motor area, then the heater will start blowing cold air...


Because the Main Gear in the Blend Motor has cracked or teeth have chipped and is now not keeping the heat/cold door to the Hot position. 3 fixes: Buy a new Blend motor, takes about 5mins to replace. Buy a new Blend Motor Gear, will take about 30mins to fix. Repair current gear with Epoxy, takes about 30mins and 12hrs for the glue to set up strong enough to use it.

Heater is blowing hot air through driver vents and cold air through passenger and back vents


there is a black electronic box on the laft drivers side of the heater box, and it controls the hot cold door in the main box. what happens is there is a set of plastic gears inside this little box, and the main one cracks, causing the other gears not to be able to be turned to switch the hot to cold, and vice versa. some of the electronic boxes are fairly cheap, and others are expensive the one for my car is around a $120 dollars, so keep your fingers crossed that yours is the cheap one, ps these are a pain in the but to replace also. good luck
