Question about 1990 Geo Storm
Parts that are new: cap, rotor, plugs, wires, pickup coil, coil., the ignition module looks brand new.Timing on crank is at 10 btc, rotor position is at 3 oclock, opposite of pickup coil, which is pointed at 9 oclock. #1 plug is at 3 oclock,1-3-4-2 counterclockwise. Fuel pump is charging when the key is turned. It putt, putt like it wants to start, but doesn't.Is there a sensor that will cause this?
When did it stop running, after parking for 3 years or after a tune up>?grin
all engines, gas the tests are the same. do I need to list them , sure'
Fuses good, and CEL glows, key on.?
1: compression over 150psi, x4, , wide open throttle
2: spark , is spark good to all 4, and timed right?
2:a 1,3,4,2 order and you know dizzy rotation, CW or CCW by watching it turn , cranking, oops, you timed it backwards?
3: and last is fueling and is very complex. (leaking injectors, etc)
so it has wet spark plugs and the fuel don't burn.
so gas is 3 years old."?
or water in fuel?
or my guess is you did #2 wrong.
the car will run on test fuel with steps 1 and 2 good.
infact i can unplug the fuel pump and all engines run for 3 second
and sounds perfect with test fuel.
watch scotty. (assumes not wired wrong)
did you skip the belt changes? cam ?

I don't think there is any sensor, you might need to check all the plug wires one of the wires might have come loose if they all are good then check to make sure that your getting fuel to the motor even if your fuel pump is working you might have a blockage in the fuel line, double check the timing to make sure that its right because if its off just a hair it will cause the car not to start. once you have done that if it still wont start hit me up and we will go from there ill check to see what else we should do to get your car up and going!!!!!

Pull one or two sparkplugs and check them for moisture; not fuel, but for water beads.
I don't know how long your engine ran after losing coolant but there is a chance that you lost the head gasket and have gotten water into the cylinders.
