Spray the bolt with PB Blaster a few times and let it sit for awhile. Use a screw extractor on the broken shaft.

Yeah, if you take those studs out for the alternator it is a big help, I recall that there are 3 of them. Once those are out of the way, you can squeak the alt out by the side of the exhaust manifold if you flatten down the heat shield first. You'll have just enough room to get it out. Good luck!!

This method worked on a 2005 Ford Focus ZXW.

You'll probably have to get to it from under the car or through the wheelwell.

you dont have to take it off. remove the 2 15mm bolts and pry the bracket sideways w/ a prybar. This shortens your time. You most likely have a 90amp alternator so it should be small enough to slide through.

Need to remove an alternator from a 1990 international six cylinder truck

UNHOOK THE BATTERY! THEN UNDO THE WIRES FROM THE BACK OF THE ALTERNATOR! YOU CAN USE MASKING TAPE, AND A PEN TO MARK WHERE EACH WIRE GOES! THEN UNDO THE TOP BOLT, AND PUSH THE ALTERNATOR IN TO LOOSEN THE BELT! TAKE THE BELT OFF, AND UNDO THE BOTTOM BOLT, THEN TAKE THE ALTERNATOR OUT! BE SURE TO SEE IF THERE IS A BUSHING ON THE BOTTOM BOLT! IF IT FALLS OUT WHEN YOU TAKE THE ALTERNATOR OUT OF THE BRACKET, YOU'LL NEED TO USE IT IN THE NEW ALTERNATOR!

How do you replace a alternator

well, if you have a 1990 civic... you jack up the front end.. make sure to use a jack stand to ensure car will not fall while under it... remove the tire... first start by removing the bolts from the top of the alternator.. first 1) is the nut which bolts on a wire.... it should be on the top under a dust cover.. 2)..unclip the wires in the rear of the alternator they should just plug in with a clip style plug...3) remove the bolt in the bracket that adjusts the alternator belt tension.. 4) loosen the bolt in the end of the tensioning bracket so that the bracket swings free.. 5) now move to the side of the car where you removed the tire... and climb under car.. remove the bolt going through the bracket and tap it out...6) push the alternator up into the engine area where it will be secure and out of the way then remove the bracket the alternator was mounted to... after removing the bracket the alternator should have just enough room to be wiggled out...
