Easiest way is to pull the fuel line off the fuel filter. Then pull the fuel pump plug and hook power to the grey wire and ground the the black wire. Have buckets or fuel cans ready.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Freestyle compressor went bad, same mileage

Get an estimate from a Ford dealer. Your problem may not take all the parts that Goodyear wants to put in. The dealer has recall info and may work with you to keep a Ford customer. You say your compressor went bad, but that may be the result of a problem and not the cause.
You can also try independent shops rather than franchises. But you may not know of any. Sometimes I ask at Police stations if I need help for reliable service places.

SOURCE: do I need to change transmission fluid on my 2005 ford freestyle

The high pressure filter and fluid are supposed to be changed at 60k intervals. Ford has a very specific oil for this transmission and the service fee will be $300 to $450 - mine was around $420.

No other car place will touch the CVS transmission in a Ford Freestyle and most Ford dealerships are clueless on thier maintenance and repairs. On most issues that crop up the first thing they want to do is swap it out - for $4000+.

Ford freestyle smell like gas inside

Could be a small gas leak in one of the gas lines or even a leak on top of the gas tank and yes could even be a leak where the fuel pump goes in the top of the tank. Quite often the leak is on the tank top out of sight and it smells of gas even if you have a slight leak.

Fuel level sensor

It is located on the fuel pump module which is located in the fuel tank. The fuel tank will need to be removed from the vehicle in order to service the fuel level sensor/sending unit.

Gas gage does not work wind tank is full show not full

you fuel gauge has a float inside the fuel deposit tank and if this float has absorbed fuel it will not read the correct level ,either replace the whole unit or take the plastic float off and tie a wine bottle cork to the end of the arm ,make sure its not a french wine bottle cork though ,

Fuel problem

The problems you're  having with your freestyle are very common, whats happening is that your fuel tank is designed like a saddle.
There is a fuel pump on the passenger side of the tank and a remote pick-up on the drivers side. What happens is that the jet pump, which is responsible for pumping the fuel from the drivers side of the tank to the passenger side is not working and so when the pass side fuel level is low. The drivers side still has fuel but it is unable to get it to the drivers side. So it wont start, but it still reads 1/4 tank because that is how much fuel is in the drivers side.
From driving around, some fuel does spill over the hump. But without the jet pump working, it will never empty the drivers side of the tank. You are correct in saying you need a new fuel pump, it is one big assembly, and unfortunately, expensive as well.

Good luck and hope this helps, the only other thing is to have the van Scanned for any DCT codes.
