Most likely the pressure line? Unscrew the nut from the power steering pump. Jack the vehicle up high enough to get under it. Use jack stands. Unscrew the nut at the rack and pinion. Remove the hose. Watch closely as you pull it out, as it has to be fished back in the same way. Hook then nuts back up. Fill the reservoir. While still on the stands turn the steering wheel back and forth the full turn about 10 to 15 times. Check the reservoir after a few times fill as need. Then start the car and turn the wheel. Again check the reservoir fill as needed. No year, make or model. So this is generic.

What is pressure in high pressure line for power stearing

Their are two (2) lines coming out of the back side of the pump, one of them will have a hose type clamp on it and be a bit big around than the other, that one is NOT the high pressure line. it is the return line.

I have a 1998 Toyota Pre runner that developed a gas leak. A small hose on top right side on engine connected to what looks like a diaphragm had a break. Replaced the hose thought the problem was solved...

as long as things are running correctly, and you have the right hose there, you should be okay. It sounds as if you maybe didn't have the right hose when you replaced it the first time? Or maybe a cheaper, possible faulty hose? if you have replaced that hose with a quality, somewhat pricey hose, and it does it again, you may have to take it to a shop to look at the diaphragm, because the hose should be able to handle whatever normal pressure the pump, or injector has.

Hi Brenda, I'm glad to help!

Brenda, 3 things could be causing this issue. (1) The steering rack could be putting excessive pressure on the pump. (2) The pump that was replaced could be bad. (3) The hose is not fully seated and tightened properly. The repair shop needs to hook up a pressure tester to the pump and see how much pressure it is performing. Excessive pressures from the pump can blow hoses and seals. NOTE: I would make sure the hose is fully tightened before the pressures are checked. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Brenda.

Replace powersteering line

Work with me on this.
There are two "kinds" of hoses. High pressure and low pressure.
High pressure hoses have a high pressure fitting on each end.
Low pressure hoses often have a pressure fitting on one end, and nothing more than a hose clamp (band clamp) on the other end.
See if yours has two identifiable hoses, one of each.
Before you take any parts off, know that it is possible you only need to tighten a hose connection.
This I found true in about 1/2 the cases.
You can change either hose yourself, but know that you might really wish you hadn't!
You may discover you have to take many parts off to get to the hoses, and be prepared to spend many hours on the job.

Car overheated, no heat inside car, top rad hose hot, lower hose cold.

Is there any pressure on the top radiator hose when the car has been running for awhile? If not the first thing I would do is replace the radiator cap. Make sure the radiator is full. Let the car run again to make sure you have pressure on the top hose. If you have pressure let the car run until you have equal amount of heat on both hoses. Make sure the fan works. If no pressure than you need to replace the thermostat.
