My check engine light comes on intermittently. When it does, the engine revs more than normal. But then the light goes away in some time and the car is fine. this has happenened twice in one week. the car...

The car should be under warrentee and the dealer should fix it free. Don't try to fix it your self as you'll throw the dealer a loop that will make them take longer to fix it

Engine management light comes on whilst driving

Go to a parts store and run a free diagnostic test. It will tell you the codes that have popped up and then you can fix it from there. That light means the computer is sensing a problem.

There are well over 100 problems in the electronics that turn the service engine soon light on, go to autozone or a kragen and they will run the trouble code test for free, then record that code and post it here. As far as the 4X4 goes that problem is most likely the electric motor that engages the 4X4 tranfer case, u will have to have that tested by either a 4X4 shop or the dealer, the dealer is the best option.

Engine light is on.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. Not fluid related, but could be a small problem that's easy to fix now. Even a loose gas cap can turn the light on. Have a code scan, that's the starting point.

Check engine light

This is most likely an O2 sensor issue, has the dealer checked the latest TSB's? (technical service bulletins.) I am sure there is one that covers this issue.

Idiling Issue

I had a similar problem with my 1999 camry 4 cyl except the check engine light never came on. When engine warmed up if I would stop at a red light it do almost exactly as you described. I would clean the throttle body and definitely the IAC (Idle air control) valve. Check out this link

I cleaned mine a little differently than this link. I used throttle body cleaner and sprayed inside the IAC hole. The spray tube would not reach down in the hole so I used a small piece of aquarium air line to extend the sprayer. I did a few 3 second bursts and then let soak about half hour. Reconnected air intake hose and drove it a few blocks and repeated the process. I replaced sensors, had injectors cleaned, new plugs etc. and nothing helped until I cleaned the IAC. After cleaning I would have the injectors cleaned.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like a fuel problem. Replace your fuel filter and add Techroline (Chevron product) fuel injector cleaner to clean your injectors.
