If there is a release pull handle inside the car, try having someone push down on the boot cover (hood) while you pull the release. Most often this will work. If the release cable is broken you may need to consult a mechanic.

Not familiar with the vehicle however, if the "d" in "dti" stands for diesel, id check the large fuel filter; usually under the hood (bonnet). Possibly only needs the air bled out -especially if the filter has been changed recently.
