SOURCE: stereo not working

Your stereo may have a security code that needs to be entered whenever the radio is disconnecred from the battery. It's an anti-theft device that makes the radio worthless to theives (even though nobody would steal a factory radio but, I digress...).

Have a look through all of the documentation for your van, owners manual, any additional pamphelts, etc. There may be one for the radio that should contain the reset code.

A vacuum leak would cause both problems. Lean mixture codes and an idle problem.

Lets not panic about oil light just yet. What may I ask, did the mechanic who changed the timing belt say when you asked him about the possibility that he didn't install it correctly?

How much will it cost to repair the traction control

There are a few components that effect the traction control. There is usually a speed sensor on the transmission, that would probably be the cheapest (probably less than $50) although the wires could be just broken (which was the case with my daughters car) and could be soldered back together (approximately $5 in materials). Then there are all the hubs that usually include the wheel bearing, those could be around $100 each. But most of all put it on a scanner see where the "real" problem is before you buy any parts. It may be cheaper than you think.

Pontiac knocking noise

crank bearings are toast, the low oil light was trying to save itself
BEFORE the damage is done. the cost of doing an inframe bottom end repair is not worth the money. engines wear as a colective unit, if you freshen up the bottom end the top end inevitably will let go, and vice versa, a low mile used engine from an auto wrecker is the best solution ,bear in mind the car will mostly have to be taken apart to swap it out to the tune of a thousand dollars plus the engine.....ask youself is the car worth that investment or should the 1000 dollars be better off towards another car

Cruise control not functioning

You have a defective clock spring ribbon rotating contact drum under the steering wheel, contact a local repair shop for more details on this part and how to replace it, since the airbag is involved in this repair it is best left to the dealer or a shop you trust.
