First question is when you try to start the car does it spin fast or normal like it want to start? If fast timing belt, if normal a different problem. Also how many miles do the car have? Has the timing belt ever been changed? The reason i'm asking these questions is to help trouble shoot what the problem is with your car. How was the car running before it stopped?

Looks like the timing belt broke. It also drives the water pump which I'm sure is what took out the timing belt. That has a interference engine so you may need a valve job if it slammed the valves. 50 50 chance its all done unfortunately....

If the timing belt broke It's not worth fixing. Probably. $1,200 fix if done by a mechanic. That's if there's no damage to the top end. Try shooting a little starting fluid in it to see if it will fire to make sure it's not a fuel issue. Could possibly be fuel pump also.

SOURCE: 96 Dodge Neon, not you average overheating issue

Hold throttle open to a normal highway RPM in the driveway and observe rad hoses for collapsing. Do your run up the road & see what rpm your at when gauge starts to move toward hot, then use that rpm, in driveway . You did run that engine for quite a while with rad cap off when you refilled coolant, with heater on correct?

SOURCE: my 03 dodge neon has jumped time. What do I need

Most mechanics would pull the spark plugs and check the compression in the cylinders, but usually anyone with a trained ear can tell by the sound of the starter when cranking against the compression of each cylinder. Many of the smaller engines today have valving designed so that when they are out of time, the pistons interfere with them. That means two objects try to take up the same space at the same time and at minimum the valves bend. Worse case scenario would be upper head/camshaft damage and possible piston damage. That's pretty severe. You won't know until you get the valve cover off or maybe deeper. Hope that helps.

You're either out of gas or you need a new fuel pump.
Roll the keys back to the 'off' position.
Have someone sit by the back tire and listen as you roll the key forward until the lights on the dash come on DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE OVER.

If they hear the pump then you're out of gas, if they don't hear the pump your pump is likely burned up.

"within an aluminum like cylinder were plugs are located deposits of engine oil covering almost entirely the spark plug."

Those are the Spark Plug Wells you are referring to. I just had the same issue. It sounds like you need to replace the valve cover gasket and Spark Plug Well Gaskets. The entire kit including the gaskets and rubber o-rings for the bolts is about $50 Canadian. My mechanic quoted 1/2 hour labour. Plugs are about $16 for 4. I chose to change the seals myself, but unless you have th tools and the time and the chemicals already, I'd advise getting the job done professionally.

My 2005 dodge neon sxt has been running hot for a few days.. 2 months ago i got it repaired for this same problem.. what can be the cause of it to continute to run hot?

Here are the least expensive items in order of least to greater...Check for proper coolant level in small tank next to the radiator. If low... refill to proper level. make sur eyou use the right stuff for you particular engine . Any good auto parts place can help with the "right stuff"
if OK, next...
Replace the radiator cap. if still getting hot, replace the temp sensing valve ( thermostat) at the engine side of the top radiator hose. If it looks grungy, you may still need to get the whole system flushed.

This is a very messy job that removes the foul stuff in the cooling system which may prevent coolant circulation.
If the water pump is defective and it was changed 2 months ago take it back to the place that installed it.
Check for loose belt driving the water pump first

if you have climate control the a/c comp. comes on
intermitently if the clutch is going bad thats a suspect also the idler pully bearing could be tired
or the ps pump could be binding.
one way to narrow the field is the next you shut it off
after driving a short time see if any of the is noticably
hotter than the others thats a place to start.
hope this helps good luck
