You should take the car to a transmission shop. Slipping is usually a sign of a bad tranny.

Windstar tranny problem: just got off phone with Northway Transmission of Queensbury, NY Technician said the torque converter had destroyed itself. the pump drive spline in converter broke and took out fins in torque converter it's going to cost me nearly $1600.00 car has only 45000mi on it and I caught it rather quickly and DID NOT TOW had car moved by flatbed/ramp truck otherwise they would have had to completly tear down transmission. (over $2300.00)

SOURCE: Hello, 1986 Toyota 4X4 Truck

I've seen a similar issue on other transmissions where the shifter slips out of the slots in the shift forks, either due to shifter bushing wear or just general wear on tte trans. It can usually be remedied at least temporarily by popping the shifter top off the trans and resetting the forks all back to nuetral and then reinserting the shifter. It gets jammed when two forks are trying to engage two different gear sets.
On one of the 4x4 sites, they tell you how to replace the shifter bushings, cheap fix if you are lucky.
Good luck.

Why is my engine running but will not move?

hello.
answering for won't move in drive , Reverse or low. or 2nd.gear
in an automatic trans, stick shifts like mine are different.
in drive.? right foot pressing hard.
if rpm races fast and high , that is transmission slip (trans issues)
if rpm stays low, say below 1500rpm.. that is weak engine.
easy huh?
easy peasy Jeepeneesy.?

1996 Acura Integra B18B motor with automatic transmission problems Ok this is my problem my transmission is like slipping and when I start the car for the first time it pulls and it drives an after a while...

I doubt its time for a '96 Acura to check the transmission parts, especially Fly wheel parts, pressure plates, clutch plates(manual) etc.
This problem could ruin the fuel efficiency and revving of your engine.
Kindly solve it at the earliest!!
PLS rate it.....

Car starts but when u change the gear it dont move

RPM at 800 , in drive
can you race motor in neutral, to 2500 rpm
?
1: does rpm rise above 1500 in drive and no movement, (slip and bad tranny)
2: or holds about 1500 but can move. (brakes frozen , with ice)
try to push car in neutral on flat ground, can you>
no , the brakes are iced.
yes, then engine power is bad.
with A/T trans, you get to first find out.
1: is engine weak.
2: is tranny slipping (races to very high rpm and no go)
3: or brakes ices, (post location so we can see climate, duh?

2005 chrysler sebring loses power driving up hill & RPM is up high, Ive changed, spark plugs & air filter. dont know what to do.

Not sure I am following your story.
Are you saying the transmission is slipping and therefore the RPM is high even tho the road speed is not ?
Or is the transmission not upshifting to the next gear at a normal road speed ?
Is the check engine light on ?

Low lever rpm rate is hight(8)

The relation between torque, power and angular speed is

1798043-0.png

Power falls off below a peak located at high engine speed, because less fuel/air (energy source) is brought in and burned per second. If that were the only factor, then power output would be proportional to angular speed

1798043-1.png

and torque would remain constant down to idle. In fact passenger car engines have a fairly broad and flat torque curve. However engine efficiency drops with at low speeds since combustion chamber shape, bore/stroke ratio, manifold runner shape and length, valve lift and intake/exhaust valve overlap, to name just a few factors, are tuned for best performance at higher engine speeds. Thus torque eventually falls. In racing cars, the tuning is "peakier," that is, they produce far more peak power but only over a narrow RPM range. As you might expect, the torque curve isn't as flat in this case, and it falls off more rapidly. Vehicles that are optimized for very high torque at very low vehicle speed either have no high end to speak of (road graders, bulldozers) or, if they need both, use different systems (diesel-electric locomotives

Engine raced with sudden loss of power climbing hill

Sounds like the transmission went south on you..(surge and power loss was the trans not sending power to the wheels, allowing the engine to freewheel as the cruise applied more power to try and maintain speed).Depending upon how high the rpm's went when it let go, it may have damaged the engine, but that remains to be determined...Your mechanic will likely concentrate on that before putting a transmission on a wounded engine. The one grain of hope in what you said is that it remained running while you had the a/c on waiting for a tow. Good Luck!!
