SOURCE: Starting problem

Try the idle air control valve it is located near the throttle body it has a four wire plug and has two small hoses attached to it this is a small stepper motor that controls the amount of air on start up this part will cost about $200 from a popular auto parts store.

SOURCE: 97 intrepid no spark replaced coil checked all

Check the starter...it is on the battery side by the manifold and autozone will do a free test. if thats not it, check if there is a fuze on the wire to to starter...and if that isn't it then it could be your ignition switch

SOURCE: I have 2005 Nissan altima that wont start. It

Nissans are known to have problems with ignition coils which would not show up on code reader. I would start with that. Pull a plug and hold it to ground to see how strong the spark is while turning engine over. If the plugs are wet when you take them out then you can be sure it is in all probability related to coils.

My 2002 nissan sentra will crank but won't start. i've replace the ecm/ecu, the cam/crank sensor or position, checked the fuel pump/pressure, and it still is doing the same thing. sometimes it

I assume you checked the fuel pressure and it is normal.
Are the spark plugs getting spark when it fails to start ?
Are you getting injector pulse from the computer ?
Any trouble codes stored in the computer ?

No response from starter when ignition key turned on. Battery is good.

I'd check to see if the lines running to the starter are corroded. I'd also check to make sure your main harness is connected correctly.

Does the car even crank/turn over at all? Run a volt meeter to the tester to see if you're getting any charge from it.

Check spark and fuel to verify that everything else is in starting order and go from there.

I have a 97 nissan pickup XE that I recently put on the road. The other night (very cold out) the head unit started to flash and the lights were dimming. I made it to a gas station where the truck died...

Its electrical problem causing this issue. As you mentioned the brake light came on .Get the brake light switch checked,if faulty replace the switch.Look up on the brake pedal, follow the bracket up until you see the brake light switch. Also get the battery to starter, and alternator connections checked. There are also other possibilities to be checked in this case.

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. Also these problems are related to faulty spark plug. Check the spark at spark plugs when you start the car. Do you notice any spark. Actually you should see. If in case there is no spark then it's a spark plug problem. Also the coil pack gives power to spark plug. So check the voltage at coil pack. It will show 12 volt. If there is no voltage noticed at coil pack then its faulty coil pack that has to be replaced. If all the possible options checked out ok then check the car starter. The starter gets power from battery to start the car. If the starter is faulty then it will not let the car to start. Also check and confirm that there is fuel in the car. If its very low fuel then in some cases this causes the problem. Also check and confirm that fuel pump is functioning properly and the fuel filter is not clogged. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gauge and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start. ---------- This troubleshooting tips will help you to solve the problem. Thanks. Helpmech.

I have a 97 nissan xe pickup and it wont start the starter and battery are good and i checked the fuzes they are also ok im not shure what i need to check next but all it does when i hold the cluch in is...

Have a look at these troubleshooting tips. As for your problem I would suspect that the starter motor itself is at fault due to worn brushes or the solenoid needs to be replaced because the its contact ring is burned away.

Turn the key the my Nissan Quest 1996 and no starter action. Not even a click and the dash lights go from dim to dark. I also noticed that my headlights wont come on at all, however the interior lights...

I WOULD CHECK THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS, IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS A LOOSE CONNECTION THERE, I WOULD TAKE THE TERMANALS OFF CLEAN THEM AND RECONNECT THEM, AND YOU CAN JUMP START THAT VEHICAL. I WOULD START THERE. SOMETIMES IF THE BATTERY HAS A DEAD CELL IT WILL DO THAT ALSO. AFTER YOU CLEAN THE TERMANALS PUT THE LIGHTS ON AND CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IF IT GOES BELOW 10 VOLTS YOU HAVE A VERY WEAK BATTERY AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT, IF YOU HAVE AAA YOU CAN CALL FOR BATTERY SERVICE AND THEY WILL COME OUT TEST THE WHOLE SYSTEM STARTING,CHARGING,AND BATTERY. IF THE BATERY IS BAD THEY WILL REPLACE IN RIGHT THEN AND THERE. THE ONLY THING YOU PAY FOR IS THE BATTERY NO LABOR.
