Question about 2002 Jaguar X-Type
Have a look on jaguarforums co uk
I found this:
Hope this helps anyone who has forgotten their code for their x type sound system. It may work on s type as well but I don't know anyone who has got one to try. Contacted Hartwell in Shrewsbury for the code for my radio as I was disconnecting the battery to change the water pump (another story). They we very helpful and charge me £20 over the phone so they could access their Jaguar computer system and give me a code according to the car reg. plate. Job done I thought - got on and did the job. Went to enter the code... Didn't work! Tried it 3 times and it locked me out for 30 minutes. Phoned Hartwell's back and they'd closed for the day!
Did some research on the internet and if you've got the same problem try this....
Enter any code 3 times so that the display shows "PLEASE WAIT"
Simultaneously press ">>" "PTY" "A.MEM" should only take 2 or 3 seconds and the radio turns on.
Hope this helps and saves some one some money!!

SOURCE: no code for jag x type radio
You must go in person to the dealer to get a radio code. If you bring the car, and the VIN number , their service department can look up your code.
This prevents theives from reselling or reusing stolen radios!
