Question about 1995 Ford Explorer
95 ford explorer has a hard take off on its acceleration and if I kick off the gas for a sec, it kicks into its speed smoothly. Possibly needs cleaning throughout the throttle body? Good rig other than that!
I agree. Most like the throttle body has to be cleaned. A transmission flush may also be in order

Hi, Take a little time to check all earth mounts,There are some fine earthwires under the looms running from air intake if one of these is broken or dirty it can cause all the symptoms you describe. All the best. Phil

Water jackets pretty tight on heads. Replacing engine right now for this problem on customer work van. Pull plugs and look for any cylinders with antifreeze in them. This truck had 250k and same problem.

SOURCE: 1998 ford explorer speed senors
for the 1998 Explorer XLT with the 4.0 EFI (not the SOHC), the speed sensor is located on top of the rear diff. and it is a magnetic one, you won't find it at autoparts store, i ordered it straight from the dealership. cost me $550 MXN ($37 USD)
and if what person above suggest didn't work, try doing a simple tranny tune up by changing the filter and oil...it workd for me.
