How do I replace wiring harness, 2004 GMC Envoy, engine cooling fan wiring?

This is a major task. It is easier to run new wire to the part, than replace the harness. It is easier to check for bad wires than to run new one. Are the wires bad? Is the fuse panel bad? or did the PCM die for that part of the cooling system? Are the fans bad?

Oil pressure drops to zero at idle on 2002 GMC Envoy after ... Jan 18, 2011 - You could have three possable problems that I can think of. 1) Your oilviscosity is too low and you need to change it to a higher level. A 5w/30 .

I recently replaced the clutch fan on a 2009 Envoy but the vehicle is still making the same noise as before I changed out the clutch fan - does anyone have any ideas on what else the problem could be.

Check the A/C Cluch . This is a common problem on today's Cars .
If that is not it , It is most likely your Idler pulley for the Serpentine Belt , once they get some miles on them or a little dirt they start to be trouble . Hope this helps!!! Grant

Clutch not working when temperature is high

You mean fan clutch? If so, check the wiring harness for frayed wires. These fan clutches for Envoys and Trailblazers tend to go out often. BUT, the more common problem is for the fan clutch to stay engaged, keeping the engine temperature too cool.

On another note, if you think 210 degrees is too high.....that's what it's supposed to run at, these engines run hot and should be dead on 210.

02 gmc envoy. was trowing codes for the accelerator position sensor, throttle position sensor, fuel tank pressure sensor, 1635 5volt circut 1, and fan clutch codes. Fan clutch replaced about 30 days...

Hi, the clutch itself is driven by a separate circuit. If anything is pulling down PCM power, it would have to be the fan relay coil. Perhaps the relay has shorted from the coil to the contact. Recommend you swap out the fan relay. Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Code reader reads code as P0495, which is high speed fan, service engine soon light is on

Hello! P0495 indicates that the engine cooling fan is spinning faster than what is desired. The vehicle uses an electro-viscous fan clutch. It is similar in operation to the old style fanclutches, however, it can be controlled electroniclly by the Powertrain control module. It is common for the fan clutches to fail and stick "on". When the PCM sees that the fan clutch is stuck on, it will set this code. Another symptom often found when this occurs, is a very loud fan noise, similar to Semi and has even been described by some customers as sounding like a jet engine!

At any rate, GM came out with revised software calibrations that are supposed to "alleviate" some of these symptoms, but of all the software updates I have done, they usually don't fix the problem and the vehicle ends up getting a fan cluch anyway. Software calibrations must be done at the dealer and are not free, so you may just want to cut to the chase and replace the fan clutch. They run about $300-400 depending on where you purchase it from and can be a bear to replace!

On a side note, I have seen a few that had broken wires at the fan clutch connector (top driver side of radiator) and occasionally a rubbed wire behind the fan blade, so you will want to look at those closely before you sink a bunch of money into it

I have a service engine soon light and the code that appeared when check is 1481, do you know what this means?

Service Engine Soon (SES) or Check Engine Light On, DTC P0480, P0526/P1481/P1484 Set (Replace Engine Cooling Fan Wiring Harness) #05-06-02-012B - (10/19/2006)

Models:2004-2006 Buick Rainier
2002-2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer EXT
2002-2006 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL,

Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon (SES) or Check Engine light is illuminated. This condition may be intermittent and upon investigation, the technician may find either DTC P0480, P0526, P1481 or P1484 set.

This condition may be caused by the cooling fan harness chaffing against the plastic guide it routes through. This contact may damage the insulation of the wires enclosed in that harness.

Replace the wire harness:
Part Number 89024920 Description Harness Assembly, Engine Cooling Fan Wiring

Good luck and keep me posed.
