Question about 1999 Ford Taurus
Remove the inoperative heater and install the new one. You just have to gain access to the side of the engine block where the heater is located. Might have to remove something that is blocking access to the heater like the starter or something else.

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine,the thermostat is behind the housing where the hose is connected to.
